Requirements
  • Knowledge of current computing, networking, and communications systems, with the ability to work effectively while understanding institutional policies and activities.
  • Familiarity with and ability to conduct password resets.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities for hardware and general information technology issues.
  • Ability to learn and support new technologies and provide input on improvements to existing processes and systems.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally, by phone, in person, and in writing.
  • Availability to work on-site at the academic campus.
  • Flexibility and availability to work in a 24/7 call center environment, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
  • Provide first-level support for all IMS-related services, including operator services, answering user questions, troubleshooting technical problems, instructing customers on supported software applications and hardware functionality, conducting password resets, and communicating IMS policy.
  • Serve as the campus operator by routing incoming calls to the appropriate person or department.
  • Determine the most effective manner to resolve clients' technical issues and escalate unresolved issues to the next level of support, consulting with an IT Specialist when necessary.
  • Create tickets in the IMS ticket system on behalf of customers for reported technical problems, documenting pertinent issue information and troubleshooting steps taken before escalation.
  • Provide customers with status updates on tickets submitted to IMS.
  • Verify knowledge-base articles for accuracy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
