Requirements
  • One to three years of professional, relevant internship, or field experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification.
  • Sound knowledge of civil engineering fundamentals and soil mechanics.
  • A required bachelor's degree.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products.
  • A construction-appropriate vehicle for driving onto job sites.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally for short-term or extended project assignments.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and diverse environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and remain resourceful when working alone in the field.
Responsibilities
  • Develop geotechnical recommendations, plans, and technical specifications for the design and construction of private and public projects.
  • Perform geotechnical analysis and design of shallow and deep foundation systems, ground improvement systems, earth-retaining structures, slopes, landslide mitigation solutions, and related systems.
  • Assess static and dynamic slope stability, ground settlement and deformation, and soil liquefaction using geotechnical software applications.
  • Perform static and dynamic numerical modeling using finite-element and finite-difference methods implemented in PLAXIS, FLAC, and other software applications.
  • Perform site-specific seismic-hazard and ground-response analyses.
  • Assist with planning and executing field investigations, including logging borings and test pits, collecting samples, performing field tests, and observing and assisting with cone penetration and geophysical testing.
  • Develop laboratory testing plans, review laboratory test results, and develop representative soil properties for geotechnical analyses and design.
  • Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, letters, plans, and other documents.
  • Observe construction of foundations, ground improvement, shoring, grading operations, and other geotechnical construction.
  • Complete field, analytical, and project administrative tasks with direction and support from peers and leadership.
  • Learn increasingly complex, non-routine tasks with review and oversight from senior staff.
  • Collaborate on and potentially travel to project sites across the company's international footprint, including Guam, New Zealand, and Australia, to provide on-site engineering support and conduct field investigations.

  • A Master of Science degree or Ph.D. in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Experience with numerical modeling, seismic-hazard analysis, and geographic information systems.

  • Experience or interest in providing strong client service.
