Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field required (BSEE or BSME preferred)
  • 0–3 years of experience in product evaluation or quality engineering
  • Hands-on experience with product evaluation using a Visual Measuring System and Force Tester
  • Experience in automotive component development preferred
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) (certification preferred)
  • Strong communication skills, team-oriented, and motivated to take on challenging tasks
  • Ability to multi-task effectively (e.g., component evaluation, equipment/jig procurement, evaluation planning)
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute
Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate testing equipment for new component evaluation, including a Visual Measuring System, Force Tester, Moisture Analyzer, Rubber Hardness Tester, Temperature Chamber, Caliper, Micrometer, and XRF Analyzer
  • Evaluate component appearance, function, dimensions, and raw materials to support SEWS trial and APQP activities
  • Investigate root causes of failures or defects through analysis and additional testing
  • Prepare and complete component evaluation and inspection reports
  • Organize and file inspection reports and lab documentation
  • Maintain operational condition and calibration records of all CEG equipment
  • Create and maintain Work Instructions and procedures related to component evaluation processes
  • Develop or update Work Instructions
  • Standardize testing methodologies for continuous improvement
  • Train CEG engineers and SEWS CFT associates in component evaluation methods and equipment use
  • Maintain 5S and ensure lab safety compliance
  • Conduct XRF testing using X-ray equipment for Substances of Concern
  • Assist in sourcing and ordering lab equipment, test plates, jigs, and fixtures
  • Prepare and present KPIs related to lab activities
