Responsibilities
  • Assist the head coach and staff with routine administrative responsibilities and management of the assigned sport program and team.
  • Provide instruction, demonstrations, and teaching of the sport's dynamics to student-athletes under the direction of the head coach.
  • Recruit and scout prospective student-athletes from high schools, junior colleges, and community colleges.
  • Make recommendations to the head coach regarding prospective student-athletes.
  • Adhere to NCAA guidelines and maintain current rosters, squad lists, and related information using the Compliance Assistant Internet program and ARMS software.
  • Coordinate schedules and submit weekly countable-hours reports according to NCAA policy, reporting potential violations to appropriate officials.
  • Coordinate team travel, arrange competitive schedules, organize practice sessions, maintain recruiting databases, and maintain hard-copy and video files of opponents.
  • Implement and maintain a comprehensive public relations program.
  • Manage the operations of sport camps and clinics.
  • Manage department fundraising and booster events in accordance with NCAA, Lone Star Conference, and institutional rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Establish and enforce rules concerning student-athlete conduct, appearance, road games, punctuality, and related areas.
  • Ensure satisfactory academic performance of student-athletes.
  • Manage study hall hours and coordinate with academic advisers to monitor and support student-athletes' academic progress.
