Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Computer/Business Systems, or a related discipline is required.
  • At least 1 to 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in Student Finance or Accounts Receivable, is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience using PeopleSoft or a similar enterprise resource planning system is required.
  • Good analytical skills are required.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
  • Knowledge of internal control procedures is required.
  • Ability to apply operating policy and regulatory guidelines is required.
  • Competency with computer application skills and business systems analysis is required.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Bursar with maintenance and development of Student Financials systems design to enhance business processes and coordinate with the Department of Institutional Technology for systems such as PeopleSoft, TouchNet, BankMobile, and Workday.
  • Process Student Accounts data, including student invoicing, account reconciliation, student account analysis, and data integrity activities.
  • Respond to constituent inquiries and complaints and resolve inconsistencies according to applicable policy.
  • Help oversee the collections process with the Central Collection Unit of Maryland and third-party cohort invoicing, including placement, group management, and data integrity.
  • Help lead teams within the Office of Student Accounts.
  • Assist the Bursar with supervising staff and overseeing day-to-day office operations.
  • Assist with training staff in the Office of Student Accounts and University Central Cashiers.
  • Support the University Cashier when necessary and organize coverage during the University Cashier's absence.
  • Develop and implement metrics to improve work quality and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Financial Aid, Registrar, Admissions, Housing, Auxiliary, Wellness Center, and Enrollment Management to ensure timely and accurate application of charges and payments.
  • Triage system errors, troubleshoot solutions, and correspond with the Department of Information Technology when necessary.
  • Manage the daily integrity of current and former students' accounts.
  • Help address Student Accounts inquiries and complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Apply Student Financials PeopleSoft functionality and knowledge daily.
  • Oversee student account refunds, verify calculations in accordance with Title IV funds, and process weekly student refunds in a timely manner.
  • Apply knowledge of financial aid, student records, and admissions functionality to student financial practices.
  • Manage communications regarding 1098-T tax forms and assist with exporting data files to the vendor.
  • Reconcile, research, and resolve cashiers' payment issues.
  • Act as an office liaison for legislative, state, and other audit inquiries.
  • Monitor the Student Accounts Office email inbox activity and response times.
  • Monitor the virtual appointment schedule and coverage.
Desired Qualifications
  • Five years of experience in the higher education industry with PeopleSoft knowledge or applicable systems-driven technological experience in higher education.
  • Relevant experience in Student Finance or Accounts Receivable.
