Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study (e.g., Actuarial Sciences, Business [Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, etc.], Computer Science, Mathematics, etc.) with seven (7) years of general analytic experience.
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field of study (e.g., Actuarial Sciences, Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, etc.) with five (5) years of general analytic experience.
  • Three (3) years of healthcare analytic experience.
Responsibilities
  • Utilizes appropriate data to find patterns, signal improvements, and/or proactively react to trends to allow Population Health Services Organization (PHSO) leadership to develop analytic strategies to influence WVUHS population health goals.
  • Develops, monitors, and communicates progress (including relevant interdependencies) in relation to project plans related to PHSO analytics.
  • Cleans and analyzes data to develop tools, models or dashboards to create data visualizations to support the story and drive actionable insights.
  • Supports PHSO leaders and operators in forecasting WVU Medicine / PHSO performance in relation to value-based and population health goals.
  • Performs and interprets comparative analyses to highlight variance in performance across geographies, clinics, providers, etc.
  • Utilizes given data and built tools to interpret root cause analyses to identify key drivers of performance outliers (both favorable and unfavorable) and supports operational leaders in defining initiatives to propagate (favorable) or remediate (unfavorable) performance.
  • Supports PHSO leaders and operators in defining key performance indicators by providing insights through data and developing reports to track the impact of PHSO and the success of its initiatives.
  • Reviews and validates health insurer reports and supports PHSO leaders in communicating concerns related to the validity of reported performance, measurement methodologies, etc.
  • Develops recommendations based on data developing and communicating recommendations to increase the PHSO’s positive impact of WVU Medicine and to support WVU Medicine clinicians and staff to exhibit consistent favorable performance in relation to value-based and population health goals.
  • Stays informed of current and emerging analytic methodologies and tools as well as healthcare industry trends in population health, value-based care, and alternative payment models).
  • Interprets and validates health insurer performance reports and provides insights regarding health insurer value-based contract terms (e.g., metrics, targets, weighting, etc.).
  • Support PHSO research efforts as requested.
Desired Qualifications
  • PhD in a relevant field of study (e.g., Actuarial Sciences, Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, etc.) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of: a) Value-based healthcare contracts/programs (e.g., pay for performance, shared savings, shared risk, full risk, etc.). b) Value-based healthcare programs (e.g., MSSP, TEAM, Medicare Advantage, etc.). c) Key industry clinical quality indicators (e.g., CMS, NCQA, HEDIS, etc.). d) Clinical risk adjustment methodologies (e.g., HCC, etc.) and practices. e) The key drivers of healthcare expenses (i.e., cost and utilization trends). 2. Accountable care organization (ACO), clinically integrated network (CIN), and/or population health, and/or health plan/insurer experience preferred.
