Requirements
  • Fifteen plus years of experience in software/platform architecture, preferably at large-scale organizations
  • Proven experience building event-driven and API-first platforms across distributed systems
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and real-time data pipelines
  • Experience with system integrations across product and vendor ecosystems (20-30+ tools)
  • Exposure to property, construction, design technology (Revit, Building Information Modeling), Enterprise Asset Management or Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, or smart buildings
  • Familiarity with Generative AI use cases, Industrial Internet of Things data flows, and data observability tools is a plus
  • Proven leadership capabilities, the ability to influence others and senior leadership, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong team player who understands concepts of teamwork and team effectiveness
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills to convey complex technical solutions clearly to an organization
  • Understands business fundamentals and how technologies can support business goals along with how to translate business vision into a technical strategy while understanding the financial implications
Responsibilities
  • Architect the design and evolution of a scalable, resilient, and intelligent platform for capital projects, smart buildings, design systems such as Revit, and operations
  • Modernize legacy technology by guiding the transformation from vendor-heavy, siloed tools (e.g., MicroStation, Maximo) to modular, service-based architecture
  • Enable data-driven decision-making by architecting solutions that democratize access to property-related data and unlock insights around location strategy, energy use, design efficiency, and operational health
  • Bridge systems and functions by partnering across engineering, product, and business (construction, real estate, store design) to define end-to-end integration strategies that support real-time, event-driven workflows
  • Mentor and lead technically by serving as a hands-on leader for a growing tech team, guiding solution patterns, design reviews, and architecture governance
  • Understand Target's business and technical environments and assist teams in resolving complex business challenges via current technical solutions by assessing viability/applicability/cost implications through proofs of concept and prototypes
  • Collaborate with technical staff and Enterprise Architecture teams in setting technical direction across platforms and driving technology lifecycle management and communication of standards/decisions to the engineering team
  • Participate in procurement specifications, installation, and maintenance of Target systems
  • Lead designing and building the Target platform application programming interfaces with deep focus on non-functional requirements including scalability, availability, performance, etc.
  • Advocate for extreme agile and DevOps practices across engineers
  • Work with engineering leaders to build a high-performing engineering team and provide technical leadership, coaching, motivation and participate in the selection of technical talent
