Position Description:
The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Louisville invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 1, 2026. Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in any field of psychological science at the time of appointment. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the undergraduate and graduate teaching missions of the department and to maintain an excellent record of research productivity.
We seek applicants with expertise in quantitative methods whose research complements other research foci in the department, such as cognition, treatment/intervention, child development, child/adult mental health, gerontology, neuroscience, or perception. Individuals who are prepared to support the statistical training offered to students in our graduate programs are especially welcome. This position is otherwise open area (e.g., Clinical, Cognitive, Developmental), welcoming applicants from any specific area of expertise with the potential to collaborate with faculty and students and attract extramural research funding.
The department hosts two baccalaureate degree programs (Psychology and Neuroscience), an accelerated BS/MS program, and two doctoral programs (Clinical Psychological Science and Psychological Science) and participates in an interdisciplinary doctoral program in Translational Neuroscience. The applicant will be a core faculty member in the program that best matches their expertise.

Teaching statement that describes the candidate’s teaching experience and philosophy and addresses specific graduate and undergraduate teaching interests. Statements should be no longer than 2-3 pages each.
