Ki Insurance runs a digital, algorithmic underwriting platform for the London market. It collects quotes from multiple capacity partners in one place and offers follow capacity—additional insurance based on a lead quote and risk information—through its network, including Aspen Digital Syndicate 4711, Beazley Syndicates 623 and 2623, Ki Syndicate 1618, and Travelers Syndicate 5000. Machine learning helps improve underwriting efficiency and accuracy, enabling brokers and underwriters to compare and attach more capacity. Unlike firms that provide a single quote from one carrier, Ki combines several capacity quotes and supports risk sharing with partners, backed by substantial investor capital (Blackstone and Fairfax) and a high Gross Written Premium of £834 million in 2022, making it the largest insurtech in London. Its goal is to simplify insurance placement, expand capacity, and better manage risk in the London market by scaling digital underwriting and partner networks.

What believers are saying

  • Ki reported H1 2026 adjusted profit before tax of $75.6 million, up 22%.
  • FY2025 managed premium reached $1.11 billion, with $205.5 million from partners.
  • Jacques Bonneau’s July 2025 chair appointment strengthens governance for growth.

What critics are saying

  • Ki depends on Lloyd’s follow business, exposing it to broker and syndicate substitution.
  • TMK, QBE, Beazley, Aspen, and Travelers can reprioritize capacity if returns deteriorate.
  • If Ki’s underwriting edge compresses, Fairfax owns a capital-heavy, easily copied platform.

What makes Ki unique

  • Ki’s algorithmic follow underwriting binds broker quotes across six Lloyd’s syndicates instantly.
  • TMK joined in April 2026, validating Ki’s digital distribution with fifth capacity partner.
  • Standalone from January 2025, Ki kept Blackstone and Fairfax capital backing.
