Requirements
  • You have at least 5 years experience in communications on issue and/or electoral campaigns
  • You have experience overseeing staff
  • You are an excellent writer
  • You're familiar with and have an interest in progressive messaging on the economy
  • You have a nose for news and an interest in progressive messaging on the economy
  • Social media rapid response and relationships with reporters are a plus

Responsibilities
  • Help develop and execute an overall communications strategy and plan for the Economic Education Project to maximize earned media coverage across our district campaigns
  • Oversee, support, and coach on-the-ground communications staff across half of the districts where we're running programming to hold members of Congress accountable
  • Help hire state/district level communications directors and additional communications staff across your districts
  • Help develop processes and draft communications materials and resources to support communications staff across states and districts to implement effective press strategies, maximize local earned media coverage, and meet program goals. This includes drafting message guidance, best practices for press outreach, training and deploying effective messengers, social media guidance, template materials, and more
  • Help identify strategic rapid response moments and provide guidance to state and local staff to best leverage opportunities to hold members accountable at the district level
  • Provide guidance on social media strategy and products
  • Perform other duties as assigned

With experience in communications, digital, organizing, and research, they bring their skills to advocacy campaigns working to strengthen democracy, protect access to health care, and ensure the economy works for everyone.
