Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, or relevant experience, certification, or license is required.
  • No previous experience is required.
  • Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Proficiency with office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Assemble, complete, and process patients’ charts, and keep patient records accurately identified.
  • Transcribe doctors’ orders and check charts for incomplete histories and operative summaries, bringing issues to the appropriate healthcare team member for correction.
  • Order unit supplies and maintain inventory of equipment stock and supplies.
  • Assist with receiving, distributing, and sorting supplies brought to the unit.
  • Obtain laboratory and x-ray reports and notify doctors of results.
  • Use IDX Radiology Information System/Picture Archiving and Communication System to track patient arrival times and advise front desk personnel of patient delays.
  • Greet patients upon arrival and verify patient information.
  • Direct patients to the dressing room and ensure they have changed into a gown and removed all metal items.
  • Document equipment issues and report them to appropriate managing staff.
  • Copy completed patient paperwork, deliver originals to the front desk for scanning, and distribute copies to appropriate reading rooms.
  • Receive telephone calls and respond to inquiries from visitors.
  • Report unusual incidents promptly to appropriate supervisory personnel.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
  • Assist physical and occupational therapists with treatment procedures as directed.
  • Communicate with departmental team members, nursing staff, and physician staff as needed and as directed by therapists.
  • Participate in quality and safety improvement activities.
  • Set up, prepare, and administer treatment modalities as directed and supervised by therapists.
  • Position patients for treatment as directed by therapists.
  • Follow designated safety procedures and precautions when assisting with patient treatment.
  • Verbally report significant information or changes in a patient’s condition to the appropriate therapist immediately.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area in the clinic.
  • Maintain equipment logs, including temperature logs for the hydrocollator and freezer.
  • Maintain appropriate water levels in the hydrocollator daily.
  • Stock linen and prepare treatment areas between patients throughout the day.
  • Clean treatment tables, mats, exercise equipment, and thermal modalities to prevent accumulation of dust, dirt, or debris.
  • Attend all scheduled shifts punctually and submit time-off requests one month in advance.
