Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree.
  • Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in a university or other nonprofit grants management role.
  • Knowledge of sponsored research funding mechanisms, including federal agencies such as the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and Department of Defense; non-federal government agencies; international entities; industry; foundations; and private and nonprofit organizations.
  • Expertise with federal funding guidelines, including 2 CFR 200 and the Federal Acquisition Regulation.
  • Proficiency with financial systems, accounting, and cost accounting standards as they pertain to grants and contracts management.
  • Budgeting experience in Excel.
  • Demonstrated financial accounting skills for account reconciliation, financial and programmatic report support, and advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Adobe Professional, and DocuSign.
  • Ability to accommodate ongoing changes to internal and external policies.
  • Ability to establish clear priorities and multitask in a high-volume setting.
  • Ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced academic setting.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative, customer-oriented working environment with multiple customers and competing priorities.
Responsibilities
  • Assist faculty with the financial and compliance management of externally funded awards.
  • Serve as the liaison and active partner between faculty and university offices for award management.
  • Provide relevant and complete information to principal investigators, department and program staff, and central university support departments for award financial management and closeout.
  • Assist with post-award grant management tasks for assigned principal investigators and departments in collaboration with programmatic and departmental administrative staff.
  • Review and reconcile expenses on Center Status Reports to ensure they are allowable, allocable, reasonable, necessary, supported by required documentation, and within budgeted amounts.
  • Review salary distributions to ensure they reasonably reflect employees' level of effort on projects.
  • Review associated fringe benefits for accuracy.
  • Review key personnel commitments to ensure costs reasonably reflect the level of effort committed to sponsors and notify the Office of Research Services of significant variances.
  • Review indirect cost recovery calculations for accuracy.
  • Process corrections and adjustments within 90 days of the initial charge posting and ensure they are reviewed, approved according to signature authority policy, and supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Complete Financial Status Report worksheets accurately and on time.
  • Ensure payments to subrecipients are reviewed and processed in a timely manner.
  • Work with staff in the assigned cluster, other Post-Award Grant Administrators within the Joint Office of Research Administration, and collaborating offices to ensure awards are complete, accurate, and compliant with sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Research Administration, Certified PreAward Research Administration, and/or Certified Financial Research Administration certification.
  • Familiarity with Workday.
