Citizens snags Northern Trust duo in Florida.

Citizens snags Northern Trust duo in Florida. August 26, 2026 Katie Bickle (left) and Chris MacLellan, who joined Citizens Private Wealth from Northern Trust. Citizens Private Wealth landed a billion-dollar duo from Northern Trust in Florida, according to a spokesperson for the hiring firm. The MacLellan Bickle Wealth Partners team, which is led by Chris MacLellan and Katie Bickle, joined Citizens on Thursday in Tampa, according to the spokesperson. Neither is currently registered as brokers or investment advisors, but the spokesperson said they will be registering as part of their move. "Chris and Katie are 100% first class relationship managers with exceptional backgrounds," Citizens Private Wealth head Tom Metzger said in an interview. Metzger said that the firm is targeting "corner-office-type of advisors and teams" and is hoping to have at least four more sizable recruits this year. "We're less focused on the firm where someone's coming from versus the quality of the advisor and the quality of the relationship that they form with their clients," Metzger said. MacLellan joined Northern Trust seven years ago from Newport Group, a retirement plan provider which merged with Ascensus in 2022, according to LinkedIn. At Northern Trust, he was most recently a senior portfolio advisor. Bickle also joined Northern Trust seven years ago and most recently was a senior trust advisor, according to LinkedIn. Neither advisor immediately responded to requests for comment sent through social media. A spokesperson for Northern Trust, which is based in Chicago operates on a private banking model, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. It has 650 "fiduciary professionals," according to its website. Including the latest move, Citizens Private Wealth has added 12 teams managing $10 billion at their former firms since 2024, according to the company spokesperson. Most of its hires have come from more traditional brokerage firms or private banks. In recent months, Citizens landed two California-based teams each managing $800 million from Morgan Stanley and Citigroup. Citizens has been building out its Private Wealth unit in part to serve well-heeled banking customers acquired through its recruitment of dozens of former relationship managers from failed First Republic Bank. The Private Wealth unit is led by Metzger, who had been a private wealth executive at First Republic and briefly led its broker recruiting efforts prior to the parent bank's collapse in 2023. Metzger joined Citizens in January 2024. The 16-person team is led by Michael A. Bober and Ettore D. Ventrice. Aug 25, 2026 Aug 19, 2026 Aug 17, 2026 Aug 13, 2026 Aug 12, 2026

Northern Trust launches new set of Distributing Ladder ETFs.

Northern Trust launches new set of Distributing Ladder ETFs. On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, Northern Trust Asset Management expanded its suite of distributing ladder ETFs with the launch of eight new funds. The newly launched ETFs offer additional target maturity options for Northern Trust's existing strategies. Key takeaways: * Northern Trust has grown its collection of distributing ladder ETFs, launching eight new funds for goals-focused investors. * Four of the funds provide exposure to Treasury inflation-protected securities (TIPS), while the other four invest in high-quality municipal bonds. * Distributing ladder ETFs offer structured income and annual principal. This can be ideal for goals-focused investors and those planning for retirement. The Distributing Ladder ETF suite explained. To start, Northern Trust's distributing ladder suite is built to help investors tackle financial goals, navigate long-term income, plan for retirement, and more. Each distributing ladder ETF is built around a laddered portfolio, with each rung representing a specific calendar year. Each rung holds a selection of bonds that reach maturity within that calendar year. Distributing ladder ETFs handle things differently when it comes to principal. Traditionally, when a bond is called, a bond ladder ETF invests that principal into a future rung of the portfolio. Instead of reinvesting the principal, distributing ladder ETFs pay it out to investors on an annual basis. Furthermore, the fund itself will liquidate once its final rung is complete. "Inflation and taxes can both erode the income investors rely on to meet future spending needs," noted Dave Abner, Northern Trust Asset Management global head of ETFs and funds. "By expanding our Distributing Ladder ETF suite, we're giving investors more tools to plan for those needs with greater precision, whether they are seeking inflation-protected income, tax-exempt income or a defined maturity profile in a simple ETF structure." 8 new approaches to the Distributing Ladder suite. Northern Trust offers distributing ladder ETFs that provide exposure to either Treasury inflation-protected securities (TIPS) or municipal bonds. The new funds build upon access to these fixed income approaches, offering target maturity dates across 5-, 10-, 20-, and 30-year horizons. Meanwhile, the Northern Trust 2031 Tax-Exempt Distributing Ladder ETF (MUNJ), Northern Trust 2036 Tax-Exempt Distributing Ladder ETF (MUNF), Northern Trust 2046 Tax-Exempt Distributing Ladder ETF (MUNG), and Northern Trust 2056 Tax-Exempt Distributing Ladder ETF (MUNH) focus on municipal bonds. Municipal bonds are benefiting from a favorable outlook as of late, which makes these approaches increasingly valuable for goals-focused investors. Northern Trust's four new TIPS-focused ETFs operate with a net expense ratio of 10 basis points each. Inversely, the muni-focused distributing ladder ETFs charge 18 basis points. Considering the advantages of structured income, along with the underlying securities themselves, these lower-cost approaches may warrant a closer look.
