Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience with life safety

  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering
Responsibilities
  • Review planning, programming, architectural and engineering design documents, and other technical documents for proposed construction activities.
  • Review and conduct comprehensive fire safety audits, inspections, and investigations of company’s operations to ensure compliance with fire protections codes and standards.
  • Conduct inspections of new construction and renovations to validate compliance of fire protection and life safety aspects.
  • Witness acceptance testing and commissioning of fire protection systems and equipment to validate functional compliance.
  • Assist with developing corporate fire protection governance and policy, standard operating procedures, and facility design standards.
  • Attend professional meetings within the government to benchmark how industry and other government agencies are addressing similar issues.
  • Prepare internal briefings, fact sheets, newsletter articles, and other communications of fire protection and life safety topics, and support data collection and metrics development.
  • Contribute to the company records and knowledge management activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in the fire protection aspects of facility design, construction, and commissioning, including egress, passive fire protection, fire alarm, and fire suppression systems
  • Experience with the Unified Facilities Criteria, the International Building Code, and the NFPA Codes and Standards, including NFPA 1, 13, 70, 72, 75, and 10
  • Experience in architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering disciplines to evaluate and critique coordinated integration of fire protection concepts into large facilities projects
  • Ability to travel to domestic and foreign locations
  • Possession of excellent customer service skills
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Graduate of a Fire Protection Engineering (ABET-EAC) Program
  • Completion of the fire protection engineering written examination administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES)
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) License
