Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • The position requires on-site presence and employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
  • The role requires obtaining authorizations for radiologic procedures and medications.
Responsibilities
  • Greet patients, visitors, and employees courteously; identify yourself and explain procedures clearly.
  • Maintain awareness of patient needs during procedures requiring physical contact, including positioning patients, providing warmth and modesty, and reassuring them.
  • Respond to inquiries promptly and refer matters outside the scope of the role to appropriate personnel while keeping patients and others informed.
  • Observe patient conditions, report abnormal conditions to physicians, and document appropriately in patient records.
  • Measure and record patient height and weight, perform routine blood pressure readings, and take pulses.
  • Draw blood, perform finger sticks, and obtain other specimens as requested by physicians.
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures using aseptic principles and create and maintain a sterile field.
  • Prepare, collect, and arrange for disposition of specimens.
  • Maintain stock in examination and blood-drawing rooms and notify appropriate personnel when supplies need ordering.
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary, and therapeutic patient-care environment.
  • Assist with cleaning and maintaining technical equipment and utility rooms, and report equipment requiring repair.
  • Answer telephones and issue appointments as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
  • One or more years of experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
  • Bilingual ability in Mandarin and/or Cantonese, Spanish, or Russian is preferred.
