  • PhD in Psychology or closely related field by the position start date of August 15, 2026
  • a record of active scholarship
  • strong commitment to mentoring undergraduate students in their program of research
  • ability to teach a diverse undergraduate student body across a range of undergraduate courses including general psychology, research methods, and specialty courses in their area of expertise
  • willingness to develop courses that contribute to the LMU Core Curriculum (such as a first-year seminar and/or engaged-learning pedagogies) and/or courses contributing to minors in Psychology, Applied Developmental Psychology, or Cognitive Science
  • commitment to and demonstrated contributions to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access-related efforts in their cover letter, research statement, and teaching philosophy
  • availability to teach within a 2-2-2-3 semester rotation (4-unit classes) and participate in a 40% research, 40% teaching, 20% service model
  • openness to cross-cultural, interdisciplinary, and/or collaborative research with departmental colleagues and/or faculty from other departments at LMU
Responsibilities
  • Teach courses within a 2-2-2-3 semester rotation (4-unit classes)
  • teach general psychology, research methods, and specialty courses in area of expertise
  • develop and contribute to LMU Core Curriculum offerings (e.g., first-year seminar and engaged-learning pedagogies) and/or minors in Psychology, Applied Developmental Psychology, or Cognitive Science
  • mentor undergraduate students in their research program and involve undergraduates in research activities
  • engage in active scholarship and maintain a research program
  • participate in department service and expected service commitments
  • collaborate with colleagues across LMU, including cross-disciplinary collaborations
  • address LMU's mission and Ignatian Pedagogy in teaching philosophy and courses
  • contribute to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access initiatives in their work
Desired Qualifications
  • Research and/or teaching experiences that speak to issues of social justice and/or cross-cultural, interdisciplinary, and collaborative research with departmental colleagues and/or faculty from other LMU departments
  • experience with public or community-facing psychology outreach or engagement
  • familiarity with Loyola Marymount University Core Curriculum standards and the Ignatian Pedagogy framework
  • experience developing or teaching first-year seminars or engaged-learning pedagogy
  • interdisciplinary collaboration with other departments or programs at LMU
