Plains intern program is an opportunity to get hands on experience and education which is aligned with each student’s degree, in the oil and gas midstream sector. Plain’s intern opportunities have been specifically designed to provide students the opportunity to apply their academic studies and gain valuable experience through meaningful and challenging work. Plains is currently looking to fill the position of Operations Administration Analyst Intern to join our team for a 13-week internship in our Houston office, beginning May 19, 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with proven analytical and communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple departments. Responsibilities:
Assist the team with new financial platform (Oracle Fusion) being implemented in May;
Assist with Training documentation
Building new reports (Excel & Power BI)
Consolidating US/Canada planning and guidance files
Assistance with Compiling, analyzing, and reporting Operating Expense and Capital business results for support groups;
Assist with providing actual to budgeted variance explanations of operating expenses and Capital for support groups;
Assist with Analyzing monthly staff counts and report variances of actual compared to budget for Ops support groups;
Power BI Grid Updates;
Special Projects – example: improving forecasting and planning of ROW Leases; and
Department Shared Drive – Clean up and organize
Qualifications:
Minimum 2nd year student enrolled in a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Business, Finance or Accounting;
Both formal and non-formal co-op students are eligible to apply;
Previous work terms are considered an asset;
A self-starter who is driven to learn;
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment;
Must have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail;
Demonstrated strong analytical and organizational skills;
Proficiency with MS Office including Excel, Word and Outlook; working knowledge of Power BI is considered an asset;
Proven flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing business conditions;
Interns must be able and willing to relocate themselves to Houston for the duration of the work term;
Interns must be able to commit to a 3-month work term starting May 19, 2025, to be considered for the program; and
The successful candidate must provide satisfactory references and complete a Criminal Background Check.
