Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • NASA awarded Barrios the $450 million MTIC on July 28, 2025, then started October 1.
  • PrimeRFP tracks 472 NASA awards totaling $288.4 million across 2025-2026.
  • Barrios opened 87 job postings in 2026, signaling active hiring despite flat headcount.

What critics are saying

  • NASA represented 100% of Barrios’ obligated revenue in 2026, crushing customer diversification.
  • MTIC ends September 30, 2027; option renewal decisions after 2027 create binary downside.
  • A single NASA procurement loss would hit 766 employees and likely trigger rapid Houston layoffs.

What makes Barrios unique

  • Barrios has supported NASA human spaceflight since 1980, anchored at Johnson Space Center.
  • MTIC extends Barrios’ ISS, Orion, and Gateway integration role through 2031 options.
  • Kelly Page, former Mission Integration leader, took over as CEO on October 31, 2025.
