Requirements
  • BS in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in an engineering position
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with Engine Systems Engineering
  • Must hold or have the ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance at the Secret level or higher
  • Must hold or have the ability to obtain 'Advanced Programs' access

Responsibilities
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of the Externals Hardware engine system design using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Externals Hardware Module design.  Use prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy
  • Responsible for defining product requirements for the Externals Hardware module / components / subcontractors, and partners teams.  Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing.
  • Manages interfaces between Externals Hardware Modules and adjacent hardware, as well as between execution organizations.  Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components.  Manages the overall module level product configuration. Drive cross-functional team support and collaborate with adjacent functions to ensure a coherent set of requirements, resolving conflicting inputs across all stakeholder teams
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.  Explain difficult or sensitive information & work to build consensus.  Demonstrate persuasion skills, both technical and interpersonal, to influence others on topics within field
  • Be an expert in MBSE and ensure all interfaces, test plans, and qualification plans are accurately and completely mapped to components and modeled without error in the MBSE digital model
  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve program requirements, schedules, and contract commitments
  • Present business or technical discipline challenges and solutions to leaders. Communicate complex messages and negotiate, mainly internally, with others to adopt a different point of view
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to understand program needs, build confidence in GE Aerospace’s ability to execute and deliver, and provide solutions that meet program cost and schedule constraints
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments as appropriate
  • Assist in developing new business opportunities by leading and contributing to proposal efforts
  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis and presentation of data to internal and external customers
  • Advocate for our airframe partners' interests and communicate with management on strategic and/or technical issues
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise in military jet engine design, specifically External component design and system design, including the testing, and certification of this hardware
  • Experience with finite element analysis using Ansys, Nastran, or equivalent
  • Expertise with NX software or equivalent CAD software
  • Certification in or background with Material Review Board (MRB) engineering support
  • Experience with engine/aircraft maintainability and reliability
  • Experience with design quality assurance
  • Experience working with DoD customer and processes
  • Experience working in DoD EVM projects, established project management skills
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Outstanding mentoring skills and a strong desire to help others succeed
  • Highly motivated, self-starter who is passionate about inventing the next generation of aviation technology
  • Flexible, friendly, and collaborative approach to working in teams
