Requirements
  • At least 10 years of construction and/or combined project and construction management experience on commercial or public or educational facilities.
  • At least 3 years of full responsibility coordinating complex projects with construction values over $10 million.
  • One of the following education paths is required: a bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management; a bachelor's degree in any field plus the ability to earn a Certified Construction Manager credential within one year of hire in the LAUSD Facilities Services Division; or a current Certified Construction Manager credential in place of the degree.
  • Ability to serve as the owner's representative and hold contractors and consultants accountable to scope, schedule, and budget.
Responsibilities
  • Lead assigned school projects from preconstruction through bid and award, construction, closeout, Division of the State Architect certification, and financial closeout.
  • Own and monitor project budgets and schedules monthly to ensure they reflect actual status and meet District standards.
  • Manage contractors day to day, respond to Requests for Clarification, and review schedules, submittals, and substitutions.
  • Review and negotiate change order proposals to reach fair and reasonable prices.
  • Review payments for contractors, architects, and engineers and administer architect agreements.
  • Coordinate the design team, public agencies, and District staff.
  • Keep upper management informed through clear status and progress reporting.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Design-Build, Building Information Modeling, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, and/or Collaborative for High Performance Schools.
  • Experience with Division of the State Architect construction and design processes.
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration 30-hour training.
  • A California Architect or Professional Engineer license, or a current Certified Construction Manager credential through CMCI.
