Requirements
  • The candidate must have 5+ years of relevant experience.

  • The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining client, reinsurer, and internal relationships.
  • The candidate must have good computer skills using Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
Responsibilities
  • Organize client data, check data for reasonability, load data into catastrophe models, run the models, and share output with senior colleagues to help determine clients’ degree of risk.
  • Perform basic calculations with client data to assess a range of risk exposures and predict outcomes for clients in support of the reinsurance transaction process.
  • Develop knowledge in region-based or peril-based catastrophe risk management areas through research or experience.
  • Review complex analyses completed by project team members involving catastrophe risk models and evaluate resulting data sets to calculate client risk exposure.
  • Establish client relationships and resolve questions and challenges that may arise.
  • Prepare summaries, presentations, and reports for client projects to summarize potential risks and loss results and make recommendations to clients about improving their portfolios.
  • Manage catastrophe modelling projects from beginning to end.
  • Gather and assess clients’ catastrophe exposure data to understand and proactively address the potential impact of natural and man-made catastrophes.
Desired Qualifications
  • Spanish language skills.
  • Previous experience in a technical-related role at a reinsurance broker, market, or catastrophe model software vendor.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in natural sciences or related disciplines.
  • Prior experience in the insurance or reinsurance field.
  • A scientific background in meteorology and/or earthquake.
  • An understanding of the reinsurance industry and product lines.
  • Technical expertise working with Verisk and RMS catastrophe models.
