Requirements
  • Completion of Radiology program and ARRT-R credential as well as ARMRIT or ARRT-MR within 12 months of hire date
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school, Associates degree preferred or Graduate of Accredited Magnetic Resonance program and Magnetic Resonance Certification eligible
  • MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Must have applicable Magnetic Resonance imaging experience with various advanced magnetic resonance imaging equipment, 1-3 years Magnetic Resonance experience in a level 1 trauma facility preferred, previous academic facility experience preferred
  • REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: Basic Life Support (BLS), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Magnetic Resonance (ARRT-MR); additional certification in Magnetic Resonance preferred or Graduate of Accredited Magnetic Resonance program; those without ARRT and graduates of accredited Magnetic Resonance program will be given twelve (12) months to obtain the MR certification as a condition of employment

Responsibilities
  • Performs magnetic resonance imaging examinations
  • Demonstrates ability to assess a situation, consider alternatives and choose the appropriate course of action
  • Provides MR safety screening for 100% of patient/visitor/staff prior to entering MR room(s)
  • Responds to changes in workload using time to departmental advantage
  • Conducts job duties in accordance with departmental standards
  • Communicates technical information in a manner appropriate for the intended audience (patient, family, member or visitor)
  • Produces quality images in a consistent manner
  • Serves as a resource to co-workers
  • Assesses vein/site selection and initiates venipuncture per established standards; documents venipuncture site/contrast in RIS per established departmental guidelines
  • Demonstrates knowledge of cross sectional anatomy; knows MR anatomical landmarks and able to recognize abnormalities and alert radiologist as needed
  • Demonstrates ability to relate to coworkers in a professional and respectful manner, to assure and promote a culture of safety
  • Maintains proficiency in the utilization of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Observes established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program safety, environmental and infection control standards
  • Runs appropriate quality control procedures, evaluates results and makes appropriate corrections
  • Notifies supervisor when quality issues arise
  • Demonstrates attitude of cooperation and professionalism when working in any area of the hospital
  • Reports any problems which may affect the outcome of a patient’s exam
  • Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department
  • Uses the Kronos time clock system accurately
  • Uses Hospital/Radiology system according to established policy; inputs and retrieves information from HIS/Radiology information system; enters information correctly; reports computer malfunctions; provides training and direction to staff as necessary; maintains confidentiality of patient information; performs 3D workstation duties as prescribed by examination
  • Follows hospital and radiology policies: handles bio-hazardous waste appropriately, and follows safety and infection control policies; maintains work area clean; adheres to hospital and radiology safety and infection control policies; disposes of bio-hazardous trash properly; uses protective equipment as needed; wears ID badge; respects confidentiality of patient results
  • Practices safety and infection control; maintains a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment; maintains clutter-free environment; keeps conversations and background noise to a minimum; reports risk management concerns; completes all annual mandatory requirements including Safety/Fire, Blood Borne Pathogen, Hazardous Communication, TB, Department Specific, Age Appropriate Care, Population Specific Care; works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
  • Provides service excellence to customers by delivering timely, high quality care in a courteous, respectful manner; demonstrates respect and compassion for internal and external customers; recognizes diverse needs of customers; demonstrates teamwork; provides emotional support; dresses professionally; answers questions; works with other departments to provide services; discusses information in private areas only; protects privacy
  • Incorporates Quality Improvement into daily work; utilizes resources wisely; recommends changes to increase efficiency; reviews PI, OA, and QC monthly; provides data to manager for monthly Performance Improvement daily
  • Provides age-appropriate care for Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric as indicated; demonstrates knowledge of normal growth and development; assesses age-specific data; uses age-appropriate communication; involves family in decision making; enters responsibilities specific for position; assesses population-specific needs such as language
  • Provides specialized care to patients at high risk for injury including restraint care, pain management, abuse assessment as applicable; conducts pain management with patient and family involvement; recognizes and reports signs of abuse/neglect; initiates alternatives to restraint and monitors patient; provides for timely care; ensures consent before procedures
  • Uses communication effectively with others, medical staff, co-workers and patients; consistently communicates clearly; serves as a resource; explains procedures to patients/families in understandable terms; invites questions; avoids jargon; respects privacy and confidentiality; maintains professional self-presentation; follows dress code; limits conversations in presence of customers; prevents discussing internal issues in presence of customers; treats all members as equal
  • Participates in continuing education; attends orientations; accumulates ARRT continuing education hours; provides in-service and documentation of ARRT status
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as directed; documents attendance at outside meetings; explains procedures to customers; presents self professionally; maintains environment conducive to good customer relations; improves waiting experience; responds quickly to requests and complaints; demonstrates teamwork; participates in at least one committee or activity per year
