Job Description
Job Duties:
35% - Design and Conduct Research: Assist in the design, execution, and analysis of research projects in islet biology and transplant immunology, particularly focusing on the use of stem cells and cellular therapies in T1D and chronic pancreatitis.
25% - Publication: Prepare and publish research findings in scientific journals.
20% - Develop New Ideas: Contribute to ongoing research projects by developing new ideas to push forward current research goals.
10% - Clinical Trial Involvement: Participate in ongoing clinical trials that test cellular therapies in patients with type 1 diabetes and chronic pancreatitis.
10% - Collaboration: Work closely with the research team, including postdocs, graduate students, and faculty, to contribute to the progression of translational research.
Training and Career Development:
The candidate will receive advanced training in cutting-edge technologies and research methodologies. Opportunities to enhance professional skills in scientific writing, experimental design, and grant writing.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. or M.D. in a relevant field such as immunology, cell biology, neuroscience, or related disciplines.
Research Experience: Applicants must have experience with: Basic molecular biology techniques (e.g., cell culture, RNA/protein analysis, animal handling), Immunology and relevant research techniques, Neuroscience and aspects of pancreatic islet biology (preferred but not required).
Experience with Animal Models: Comfortable working with mice, including animal handling and surgical techniques.
Strong Communication Skills: Both oral and written communication skills are essential, with experience in writing and publishing scientific manuscripts preferred.
Passion for Research: A strong desire to contribute to medical advancements in diabetes, pancreatitis, and transplant immunology.
