Requirements
  • Completion of a Radiology Technology program.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • For work in Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin, the applicable state radiologic technologist or radiographer credential is required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists radiography certification or, where permitted, Bone Density certification together with the required radiography certification is required.
  • No experience is required.
  • The role requires constant standing and walking, frequent patient lifting or movement, and the ability to perform the listed physical, visual, auditory, and manual activities.
Responsibilities
  • Explain procedures to patients and provide appropriate educational material.
  • Transport patients to and from clinical areas, verify patient identity, and position patients for radiology procedures.
  • Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable regulations.
  • Observe patients during procedures, report abnormal activity, monitor protocols, and recommend updates or refinements when warranted.
  • Submit high-quality images and documentation to the Picture Archiving and Communication System, including correct lead markers and patient data or history.
  • Ensure equipment is functioning properly and report potential problems or malfunctions; lock or tag out equipment when appropriate.
  • Maintain clean and orderly procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and other department areas.
  • Perform limited computed tomography procedures in emergent situations when a computed tomography technologist is not on site.
  • Work in a consistently alert and safe manner.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
