Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety or Industrial Hygiene strongly preferred; related degrees in a science or engineering field also considered; 10+ years of related experience or a combination of education and experience also considered
  • Skilled in SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Safety and Loss Prevention programs required, knowledge of same within the Chemical industry strongly preferred
  • Thorough knowledge and application of the EPA, OSHA, and Kentucky regulations; DOT a plus
  • Experience creating and implementing process hazard analyses considered a plus
  • 5+ to 7 years experience
  • Minimum Education - Bachelor’s Degree
Responsibilities
  • Support the manufacturing management in driving continuous improvement
  • Ensure Safety standards are being met through personal accountability, participation and effective systems
  • Establish clear, audience appropriate safety procedures covering both employees and contractors
  • Support ESHA manager in providing safety expertise to the site including daily site tours
  • Confirm safety reviews (audits) of policies and procedures, provide feedback for shared learning. Create and verify completion of corrective action lists.
  • Ensure facility has the ability to respond to any possible emergency
  • Ensure and facilitate investigation of incidents and sharing of lessons learned
  • Develop dynamic Safety training – both Face to Face and Computer Based
  • Proactively evaluate legislative changes and assess impact to the plant operations
  • Conduct Plant Hazard Analysis on topics such as (but not limited to): Testing work areas for Noise, Toxic, and/or other hazards; Arc Flash; PPE; Machine specific LOTO
  • Ensure detailed Incident Investigation with focus on Root Cause Analysis and Prevention occurs in a timely manner
  • Facilitate and implement, with the assistance of plant management, SHS policies and procedures and provide support and guidance in implementing these policies and procedures
  • Ensure federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules are observed
  • Primarily responsible for security and safety of employees, contractors, vendors and visitors while on Clariant property
  • Assist in Security and Safety audits and projects at other Clariant facilities as needed
  • Track goals and leading safety metrics, report data to management
  • Ensure proper OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are satisfied
  • Assist in the administering of the PSM/RMP Program
  • Schedule and perform regular and random plant security and safety audits, including during the off-shifts
