- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
- Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and the unit or department.
- Maintains a current State of Alabama registered nurse license or valid enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact multistate registered nurse license.
- Maintains current Basic Life Support or Healthcare Provider certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Trauma Nursing Core Course certifications are required for certain areas; Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification is required for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
- Assess patients’ needs and develop or revise individualized plans of care based on patient needs and responses.
- Build respectful relationships with all team members and customers while respecting diversity.
- Serve as a patient and family advocate.
- Provide care appropriate to the ages of patients served on the assigned unit or department.
- Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.
- Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and the interdisciplinary team to plan and manage the unit or department effectively.
- Serve as a role model for staff and support the hospital and nursing department’s goals and strategies.
- Apply knowledge of growth and development across the life span, assess data reflecting patient status, and interpret information needed to identify age-specific patient requirements.
- Coordinate care and delegate appropriately to other team members for a defined group of patients.
- Document patient care, including patient assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety activities, consistently and in accordance with required and regulatory standards.
- Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and use of patient care and unit equipment as defined by unit- or department-specific required skills.
- Prioritize patient care continuously in accordance with evidence-based practice standards of care.
- Identify and resolve problems effectively.
- Delegate tasks and duties to healthcare team members according to patient needs and team members’ capabilities and qualifications.
- Communicate appropriate information about patient conditions or unit concerns to other healthcare team members.
- Provide a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
- Demonstrate awareness of legal issues and patients’ rights.
- Collaborate with the education department and nursing leadership team to transition and support new team members and students effectively.
- Maintain reasonably regular and punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies and applicable federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
