The Opportunity
Bring your expertise to a highly collaborative, creative, and innovative team with a market-leading technology product suite. We are seeking a highly motivated Applied Data Scientist with Software Engineering capabilities to join our Machine Learning team to help design and develop our NLP pipelines.
You will work closely with internal stakeholder teams of product owners and private equity analysts, with a focus on continuous model improvements, ML pipeline deployments, and human in the loop capabilities. This position will report to the Machine Learning Manager, with engagement across the organization.

As an Applied NLP Data Scientist/Engineer at Chronograph, you will:
- Evaluate & Experiment with Deep Learning based models like Transformers and classical statistical techniques.
- Leverage your SLM/LLM experience to solve problems around information extraction, AI agents, summarization, and RAG.
- Use query languages like SQL, GraphQL, Elastic, etc for data preparation & curation and work with ML infrastructure.
- Review scientific papers to find optimal or novel approaches to improve model performance, and keep up to date with the latest applicable ML python packages .
- Work on improving models using unlabeled data through cutting edge algorithms eg. self-supervised learning, semi-supervised learning, active learning, or weak supervision with specific focus on NLP.
- Set up pipelines for model evaluation to progress ML capabilities at Chronograph.
- Deploy models into production while working with DevOps, design, and full-stack teams to integrate features.
You will be successful in this role if you have:
- BS/MS in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, etc. Alternatively, two years of Masters-level equivalent work experience is a plus
- 3 years Proven experience with Python, specifically Pytorch/Pandas/NumPy/Transformers/SciPy/Scikit-learn.
- Experience with AWS SageMaker, AWS Lambda, MLFlow, Airflow, SQL, Docker
- Two years or more of experience working with TensorFlow/PyTorch,pre-training and fine-tuning models (BERT, RoBERTa, etc.). HuggingFace experience is a plus.
- Good interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

Salary Range (dependent on experience)
