Requirements
  • Practice of the Catholic faith is required, and employees must conduct themselves consistently with the mission, purpose, faith, morals, and policies of the Church and diocese.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Theology, Catechetics, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in parish ministry or a related field is required.
  • The candidate must have or be in the process of obtaining diocesan catechetical certification.
  • The candidate must have strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • The candidate must be able to build effective relationships with catechists, families, and parish staff.
  • The candidate must be able to read, analyze, and respond to written communication.
  • The candidate must be able to present information clearly and effectively.
  • The candidate must be able to work effectively with diverse individuals and cultures.
  • The candidate must be able to apply basic mathematical concepts in budget support.
  • The candidate must have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze information.
  • The candidate must be able to work more than 40 hours when required, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • The candidate must be able to perform extensive computer work and use basic office computer hardware and peripherals, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • The candidate must be able to sit and stand for long periods, reach, grasp, feel, and see up close and from afar, communicate verbally and in writing, and exert light physical effort involving occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and administer parish religious education programs, including sacramental preparation for children such as First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
  • Recruit, train, and support catechists and volunteers while ensuring compliance with diocesan certification and Safe Environment requirements.
  • Implement curriculum and select materials approved by the Diocese.
  • Coordinate class schedules, sacramental preparation timelines, and related program activities.
  • Maintain accurate program and sacramental records.
  • Assist in preparing and monitoring the program budget.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and provide recommendations to the Pastor or Parish Catechetical Leader.
  • Ensure compliance with diocesan policies related to faith formation programs.
  • Collaborate with parish staff to support overall formation efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
