Requirements
  • Maintain certifications and credentials required to maintain deep subject matter expertise on Building Automation Systems.
  • Have five years of experience working with mechanical systems.
  • Have five years of Building Automation experience.
  • Have three years of programming experience.
  • Be Niagara certified or able to obtain certification within one year.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Responsibilities
  • Execute turn-key projects up to $500,000 or as assigned.
  • Develop and execute small retrofit and upgrade projects.
  • Function as the project superintendent and manager for larger designed projects up to $500,000.
  • Function as the building automation superintendent on projects over $500,000 in coordination with a full-time Project Manager.
  • Maintain thorough systems knowledge of how HVAC, Building Automation Systems, lighting, security, and other systems interact to meet facility needs.
  • Maintain expertise in system integration and champion integration with clients.
  • Support, train, coach, and mentor team members on high-quality installation, programming, and operational verification of systems while modeling company values and safety standards.
  • Provide thought leadership on trends and changes in the controls industry.
  • Verify system compliance with plans and specifications, change orders, project scope documents and drawings, and the approved sequence of operation.
  • Lead applicable preconstruction activities, including coordination of design, sequence of operations, project turnover, and accounting system setup.
  • Ensure proper installation of components.
  • Provide detailed verification of wiring and system functionality.
  • Inspect systems to determine whether they are operating properly.
  • Program controllers in compliance with system design, specifications, and sequence of operation.
  • Integrate other systems as required to meet project scope.
  • Diagnose, test, and analyze the performance of system components and assemblies.
  • Design graphical user interfaces for controlled systems within a building.
  • Modify programs to achieve proper system operation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions and make recommendations to improve operational efficiency or quality.
  • Consult and advise other trades on issues affecting system performance.
  • Assist with project close-out, commissioning, and owner training according to the appropriate project scope of work.
  • Ensure assigned projects are completed on time, on budget, and without compromising safety standards.
  • Plan, forecast, schedule, and coordinate labor, materials, and subcontractors to meet project schedules and budgets.
  • Provide timely and accurate communication to the supervisor, project owner, and other trades.
  • Record and document scope changes for processing as change orders.
  • Maintain accurate productivity tracking for labor, materials, and subcontractors and address deficiencies.
  • Document operational activities.
  • Understand project schedules, conflicts, and delays and coordinate activities to remain effective and efficient.
  • Compile job documentation, including checkout sheets, as-built documentation, commissioning documentation, certificates of completion, customer training forms, training certificates, and punch lists.
  • Provide sketches or modify drawings as needed for accurate project documentation.

Harris expands into Colorado through multiple strategic acquisitions. June 2, 2026 Harris has expanded its national footprint into Colorado through the acquisition of three companies serving the region's mechanical systems, controls and building automation markets. The move establishes a strong operating base for Harris in Colorado and significantly broadens the company's presence across the Mountain West. The expansion began with the acquisition of Colorado-based temperature controls company D.R. Associates (DRA), effective May 4. Founded in Denver more than 20 years ago, DRA has built a strong reputation for delivering dependable temperature control solutions tailored to the needs of Colorado businesses. The company serves customers across industries including healthcare, manufacturing and commercial facilities. Effective June 1, Harris also acquired Climate Engineering (CEI) and Centennial Controls (CCI). CEI and CCI bring complementary expertise in mechanical systems, HVAC solutions and building automation throughout Colorado. Together, the companies have supported a wide range of commercial and industrial projects across the region, helping customers improve building performance, visibility and operational efficiency through advanced mechanical and controls solutions.
