Requirements
  • Three years of experience with a six-color press.
  • Three years of knowledge with 40-inch and 51-inch presses.
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Full comprehension of written work instructions and business memos.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization.
  • The ability to use basic mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, measurements, and critical thinking, to solve practical problems.

  • The ability to organize, plan, prioritize, and follow through on assigned projects with minimal supervision.

  • The ability to perform physical tasks involving pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, squatting, kneeling, and bending; lift and pull up to 50 pounds; use fine motor movements and manual dexterity; maintain near visual acuity; and access and navigate each department in the facility.
Responsibilities
  • Operate a sheetfed printing press that applies ink or coatings to paper and other surfaces and performs in-line finishing operations such as scoring, die-cutting, and perforating.
  • Read and understand job tickets, layout sheets, artwork, and other job specifications.
  • Rule sheets out to inspect trims, straightness, and fold correctness against bluelines and artwork.
  • Achieve color matching and approval to proofs.
  • Make ready jobs efficiently and within the required timeframe.
  • Fill ink fountains.
  • Produce color within provided tolerances, review readings, and adjust color density to meet required spectrophotometer readings.
  • Inspect and pull quality-control sheets throughout the production run.
  • Maintain necessary press records.
  • Operate a micrometer.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, federal and state regulations, company policies, and safety rules.
  • Direct and perform routine and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Maintain an ongoing list of maintenance issues to be addressed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Printing company Mittera closing Jacksonville plant, affecting 100 jobs. The Iowa-based company said the loss of a customer prompted the closure. * By Mark Basch * | 9:21 a.m. May 20, 2026 * | 2 Free Articles Remaining! * Business Mittera Group Inc. filed a notice with the state May 18 saying it is closing its Jacksonville plant at 10301 Busch Drive N., affecting 100 full-time jobs. The printing company said in a letter filed under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act a decision by the plant's primary customer to move its work to another provider is prompting the closure. The letter said the 100 employees will be terminated between July 17 and the end of 2026. Employees will receive wages and benefits through their last day of employment and retirement and insurance benefits will be provided in accordance with the terms of applicable benefit plans. Des Moines, Iowa-based Mittera provides print, mail and marketing services. The company has plants in 11 states, including Florida facilities in Pompano Beach and Sunrise, according to its website.

Mittera has acquired Rex3, a Florida-based commercial printer, enhancing its services in specialty print production and tapping into the collectibles market.
