Requirements
  • Seven to ten years of experience in security software engineering, security engineering, or a closely related discipline, with demonstrated technical leadership of security tooling programs and organizational-level impact.
  • Expert Python engineering, including designing and delivering production systems at scale and understanding observability, reliability engineering, and security-tooling integration with broader security operations ecosystems.
  • Deep expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning security, including adversarial machine learning, prompt injection, model security, and agentic framework trust boundaries.
  • Experience designing security-tooling architectures spanning multiple teams and systems, including defining how platforms are structured, scaled, and maintained.
  • Ability to align engineering and security leadership on architectural direction and drive cross-team adoption of standards and patterns.
  • A track record of shipping high-quality security tooling that other teams depend on in production.
Responsibilities
  • Define the architecture and technical strategy for the AI security tooling platform across adversarial testing, behavioral monitoring, threat detection, and automated assessment of AI components.
  • Set engineering standards for design review processes, reliability requirements, observability practices, security properties of the tooling, and integration patterns with downstream consumers.
  • Own technical decisions about scaling systems across the growing AI surface, integrating with product security and detection pipelines, and deciding which tooling capabilities to build, buy, or obtain from open source.
  • Lead the design and development of production-scale AI platform capabilities for behavioral analysis, prompt-injection detection, and anomaly detection of agentic workflow behavior.
  • Define the methodology for systematically evaluating new AI capabilities against a comprehensive threat model before deployment and monitoring them continuously afterward.
  • Drive the technical strategy for AI red-teaming tooling, including automated adversarial-testing platforms that simulate attacker attempts to abuse AI systems.
  • Serve as the technical authority on AI security engineering for Product Security, SITH, IR, and ConMon teams, ensuring tooling outputs integrate with their workflows and meet detection and assessment needs.
  • Represent AI Security Engineering in architecture reviews, platform security decisions, and cross-team technical discussions.
  • Establish reusable AI security engineering patterns and standards for teams building AI-connected systems on the platform.
  • Mentor senior and mid-level engineers on AI security engineering architecture, adversarial threat modeling, and technical leadership.
  • Lead design reviews, define team engineering practices, and drive continuous improvement in the quality and reliability of AI security tooling.
Desired Qualifications
  • Research contributions or deep familiarity with adversarial machine learning, AI safety, or AI red-teaming methodology.
  • Experience with MLOps platforms, AI serving infrastructure, or AI platform security at cloud scale.
  • Familiarity with AI governance standards, including NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, and EU AI Act technical provisions, as they apply to security engineering.
  • Open-source contributions or publications in AI security, adversarial machine learning, or security tooling.

Databricks provides a unified data and AI platform built around a lakehouse architecture that blends data lakes and data warehouses. It helps organizations ingest, store, manage, and analyze data from various sources, then apply analytics and machine learning at scale. The platform offers automated ETL, secure data sharing, and high-performance analytics, with built-in support for AI workloads and model deployment. Unlike traditional single-purpose data stores, Databricks combines data engineering, data science, and business analytics in one system, aiming to streamline data workflows and make insights readily actionable. Its goal is to enable businesses to manage data more efficiently, accelerate insight generation, and deploy AI and analytics across diverse teams through a subscription-based platform and professional services.

Coatue leads $3B Databricks investment at $134B valuation

Coatue Management is reportedly leading a $3 billion investment in Databricks, according to recent reports. The data analytics company previously raised roughly $5 billion earlier in 2026 at a $134 billion valuation. Databricks sells a lakehouse platform combining data lake and data warehouse capabilities and has expanded into AI software for enterprise applications. The company reported $5.4 billion in revenue run rate in February, up over 65% year on year, which grew to $6.9 billion by June. The earlier financing round included $2 billion in debt capacity intended to fund AI products, acquisitions and employee liquidity. At its current valuation, Databricks exceeds Snowflake's market capitalisation of approximately $83 billion. Management has indicated the company may remain private until market conditions improve.
