Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • One to two years of experience as a Leasing Consultant or equivalent experience is required.
  • Experience handling sensitive, confidential information is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is required.
  • Fluency in English and oral and written communication skills are required.
  • The ability to use tact and diplomacy in a clear, courteous manner when dealing with co-workers and the public is required.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment is required.
  • Real estate licenses must not be active while working in this role.
  • The employee must be able to work in a standard office setting, use standard office equipment including a computer, maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, lift and carry items weighing up to 10 pounds, read printed material and a computer screen, communicate in person and over the telephone, and navigate the property quickly and easily, including climbing stairs and walking hallways and common areas.
Responsibilities
  • Handle incoming phone inquiries regarding available apartments, provide requested information, and encourage prospects to schedule property visits.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the community and apartments by communicating their features and benefits.
  • Follow up with prospects who have not made a decision and continue to promote the property.
  • Qualify prospective renters by gathering rental and credit history and obtaining approval according to company guidelines.
  • Assist in coordinating the turnover schedule, including scheduling vendors and coordinating identified work.
  • Move in new renters by discussing their lease and resident handbook and conducting move-in inspections.
  • Move out departing renters by conducting move-out inspections.
  • Assist with rent collection, including accepting payments and sending notices on delinquent accounts.
  • Complete essential office paperwork, including reviewing and coding invoices.
  • Comply with all safety program requirements and promote safety in the workplace.
  • Perform regular market research with the Property Manager using public information, including property websites and internet searches, to understand competitors' activities.
  • Collect rental information data as requested by the Property Manager using public information, including property websites and internet searches.
  • Assist in planning resident functions, attend functions, and participate as needed.
  • Receive telephone calls and in-person visits and, in the absence of the Property Manager, listen to resident requests, concerns, and comments.
  • Complete maintenance work orders promptly, inform the maintenance team, ensure repairs are handled satisfactorily, and follow up with residents as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Yardi is preferred.
