Requirements
  • A college or university degree in a related field.
  • Five to seven years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Responsibilities
  • Determines class offerings, and creates and posts class schedules each academic quarter.
  • Assists in revenue generation and tracking of participation.
  • Hires and evaluates instructors, manages payroll process for instructors, and tracks attendance in classes for quarterly reports and assessment of future class offerings. Current general class offerings include boot camp, cardio kickboxing, Pilates, yoga, Zumba, etc.
  • Processes client applications, provides personal training services to select clients, conducts initial fitness assessments, and assigns clients to other personal trainers.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates part-time personal trainers.
  • Manages client records in association with this service. Tracks data to compile periodic reports.
  • Designs fitness programs and provides individual and small group physical training sessions for select clients.
  • Performs periodic fitness machine orientations to members.
  • Collaborates with various offices on campus for fitness/wellness events.
  • In consultation with the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Recreation and Fitness, implements new fitness initiatives to meet interest and demand.
  • Under the direction of the head coach, guides the management of an athletics program within NCAA and University standards.
  • Develops and implements new instructional, training, and conditioning programs. Teaches relevant skills to student-athletes during team practices, games, and individual/small group training sessions.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in exercise science, kinesiology, or related area.
  • Background in personal training, fitness instruction, or teaching.
  • Current CPR/AED.
  • Certification as a Personal Trainer through one of the following national organizations: National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Endurance and Sports Trainers Association (NESTA), National Federation of Professional Trainers (NFPT), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), National Exercise Trainers' Association (NETA), American Council on Exercise (ACE).
