Requirements
  • Knowledge and skill in installing and maintaining complex applications and software systems, including Jamf, Amazon Web Services, Meraki, Adobe, Microsoft Office, email, web browsers, antivirus software, and UCLA applications requiring interface knowledge.
  • Ability to recommend, install, evaluate, troubleshoot, and test new software, operating systems, and electronic devices to assess their strengths, weaknesses, and operational suitability.
  • Knowledge of Apple hardware, including laptops, tablets, and phones, and Apple software, including macOS and iOS, as well as vendor applications and hardware.
  • Knowledge of local area network and wide area network technology and data communication concepts, including TCP/IP, routers, firewalls, and intrusion detection; ability to perform network diagnostics and repair client-side problems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop systems and experience configuring, installing, and supporting Windows Server operating systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network connectivity problems and work with university and Los Angeles County information technology staff to resolve issues.
  • Ability to provide formal and informal technology training or user instructions and maintain records with sufficient organizational skill.
  • Ability to use the listed systems productively while ensuring confidentiality, sustainability, accuracy, and data integrity.
  • Ability to stand for several hours, reach, grasp, walk, sit, carry, bend, stoop, repeatedly lift, and transport training materials, technology equipment, and training supplies.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related area, or equivalent experience or training.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation, Live Scan background check, and E-Verify check.
  • Candidate must be at least 18 years old.
  • Evidence of required COVID and influenza vaccinations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance and administrative support for department systems and processes.
  • Support foundation academies and other trainings through virtual and in-person technical and administrative assistance and proctoring.
  • Manage class schedules, data entry, registration, attendance data entry, evaluation data entry, reports, and digital and database files and records.
  • Coordinate and copy presenters' training materials and assist in producing the Center's annual report.
  • Operate an internet-based, multi-software technical environment using Amazon Web Services, Jamf, Meraki, Google Calendar, LA County Learning Management System (Cornerstone), Moodle, and Zoom.
  • Screen and maintain the confidentiality of concerns or complaints from staff, trainers, trainees, social workers, consultants, and the general public.
  • Assist with on-site and off-site trainings, including classroom setup, registration, parking, facilitation, and in-person and virtual technical and administrative support.
  • Install, maintain, and monitor servers and software tools supporting the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services training facility and UCLA-based staff.
  • Evaluate hardware and software products and recommend cost-efficient purchases that meet organizational requirements.
  • Provide routine system administration, including setting up server user accounts, server monitoring, system backups, security monitoring, and incident, change, and configuration management.
  • Research opportunities for improvement and support other administrative and technology-related departmental tasks.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to solve a wide range of hardware and software problems and implement solutions on Windows, Linux, and macOS systems.
  • Working knowledge of backup techniques and protocols sufficient to maintain viable independent backups and restore them after system crashes or other failures.
  • Working knowledge of internet browsers, internet tools and utilities, IP addressing and address assignment, and the ability to assess and troubleshoot Wi-Fi issues.
