Company surpasses $1 billion valuation as investors back proven technology designed to address AI’s mounting power constraints across data centers and Physical AI SANTA CLARA, Calif., August 18, 2026 – Velaura AI, Inc., an AI compute infrastructure company developing ultra-low-power silicon and software technologies, today announced that it has raised $110 million in Series A […]
Velaura AI has raised $110 million in Series A funding, achieving unicorn status with a valuation exceeding $1 billion. The round was led by Seligman Ventures, with participation from Capricorn Investment Group and existing backers Samsung Catalyst Fund and StepStone Group. The chip designer focuses on low-power designs aimed at reducing energy costs for AI data centres. According to Reuters, the company is positioning efficiency as a key differentiator as the industry faces physical constraints around electricity consumption, cooling requirements, and power delivery capacity. Velaura's approach addresses what investors see as AI's emerging bottleneck: not model sophistication, but the practical limitations of data centre infrastructure.
StepStone Group missed Wall Street's revenue expectations in Q2 CY2026, with sales of $300.6 million falling short of the $312.8 million estimate, despite a 26.6% year-on-year increase. The private markets investment firm's non-GAAP profit of $0.48 per share also missed consensus by 4.8%. CEO Scott Hart highlighted continued strength in fee-related earnings, driven by robust fundraising and rapid growth of its Private Wealth platform, which saw subscriptions surpass $2.8 billion for the quarter. The company achieved $10 billion in gross inflows, split between managed accounts and commingled funds. Management attributed margin pressure to changes in fee structures and timing of fund activations. Looking ahead, the firm plans to buy in its Private Wealth profits interest to boost adjusted net income. StepStone raised its quarterly dividend by 18% and executed $21 million in share repurchases.
