Requirements
  • An Associate’s degree or equivalent is required; a combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of 6 years in the automotive industry is required.
  • A valid operator’s license must be maintained, along with 5 years of driving experience, an excellent driving record, and the ability to operate automatic and manual transmissions on passenger vehicles and light and medium-duty trucks.
  • Satisfactory pre- and post-employment screening results are required.
  • Ability to independently manage a retail automotive services operation.
  • Ability to use automotive diagnostic equipment and provide technical guidance to the team.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and regional or corporate support departments.
  • Advanced knowledge of personal-computer-based Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, as well as automotive computer equipment and software applications.
  • Organizational and analytical skills.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with others.
  • Ability to respond to customer inquiries and refer customers to associates who can assist with Car Care, Travel, Insurance, Membership, Discounts, Financial Services, and other retail products.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial data and reports.
  • Ability to work in an automotive shop environment, use automotive tools and equipment, and tolerate noise, temperature changes, dust, and fumes.
  • Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, stand for prolonged periods, and perform required fine and gross motor movements.
Responsibilities
  • Hire staff and schedule associates to meet changing business needs.
  • Evaluate staff performance, provide coaching, and counsel associates to support development, effectiveness, and productivity.
  • Identify and schedule seminars, training programs, and schooling for technicians, service writers, and other personnel.
  • Monitor and assure high-quality customer service by associates.
  • Review necessary repairs with customers, address questions or concerns, and resolve problems or special requests.
  • Respond to customer complaints and maintain oversight in the shop and at the front counter.
  • Oversee repair and maintenance scheduling, review facility efficiency, and implement operational changes.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on Car Care facility operations for management review.
  • Prepare and adhere to income and expense budgets and ensure the facility meets revenue, net income, and sales goals.
  • Provide technical assistance to Car Care associates.
  • Act as the Health and Safety Officer and manage safety and shop compliance issues in accordance with OSHA and local laws.
  • Monitor EPA and environmental laws and advise the organization of changes affecting operations and services.
  • Develop external business relationships to generate business and enhance the company’s community image.
  • Establish vendor partnerships to provide a complete range of products and services.
  • Participate in local and national automotive organizations.
  • Recommend process improvement opportunities to leadership.
  • Facilitate effective tool usage to maintain compliance and align with key performance indicators.
  • Lead the team to exceed customer satisfaction and quality scores while meeting productivity goals.
  • Maintain awareness of car care products and AAA services to provide member and client experiences.
  • Perform related duties and other assigned tasks.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence certification as a Master Automotive Technician.
