Requirements
  • An advanced degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling, or a higher education-related field.
  • Typically, 1–3 years of professional experience on a careers team in a college or university setting.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with students, faculty, alumni, employers, and staff colleagues.
  • Demonstrated public relations and marketing abilities.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with career development platforms and software packages.
  • Typically, 2+ years of experience with project and event management.
  • Typically, 1–3 years of experience supporting students across schools and curricula in exploring career opportunities.
  • Ability to work additional hours beyond the typical workday, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel overnight when required.
Responsibilities
  • Advise students interested in creative careers on career decision-making, career exploration, resume writing, interviewing, networking, and other career-related skills.
  • Collaborate with staff members on departmental programming, including career fairs, events, and discipline-specific programs designed to educate students about career communities.
  • Conduct individual student appointments addressing general career development topics.
  • Contribute to advising resources for all students, including workshop content, website content, handouts, and videos.
  • Produce career content and maintain website and digital-platform content supporting career development for students interested in creative careers.
  • Implement ongoing programs with the director to educate students and constituents about industry trends and recruiting opportunities within creative careers.
  • Plan and coordinate immersive Creative Careers signature events, such as treks, that expose students to creative industries and connect them with alumni and professionals.
  • Cultivate and engage creative-career alumni in programs connecting them with current students, including meetups, career panels, series, and workshops.
  • Assist with newsletter creation for the creative careers community.
  • Assist with content creation, presentation, and development of general resources and programs with other advising staff.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education, or a related field.
  • Experience leading career-related programming and professional development.
  • Previous experience working in a centralized career services model.
  • Experience with career services management platforms and tools, such as Symplicity, 12Twenty, and Purple Briefcase.
  • Knowledge of creative career areas such as marketing, media, communication, entertainment, publishing, arts and arts administration, and museums, along with the associated student development life cycle.
