Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field, plus one year of general fund experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties.
  • Must complete a physical examination, obtain TB clearance and a drug screen, and provide required influenza, pertussis, and measles immunization records before the first day of employment.
  • Must pass required background, education, DMV, NSOR, exclusion, and debarment checks.
  • Must have or obtain a current criminal background check clearance, sign a criminal record statement, and sign an Acknowledgement to Report Child Abuse form before the first day of employment.
  • Must have and maintain a valid California driver’s license, use a personal insured vehicle daily, and maintain a motor vehicle driving record acceptable to MAAC’s insurance carrier.
Responsibilities
  • Perform complex and technical accounting work maintaining and analyzing records of revenues, expenditures, and special program or project funds.
  • Prepare analyses, schedules, journal vouchers, and reconciliations to produce periodic financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and other applicable accounting standards.
  • Make recommendations and calculate allocations of program costs.
  • Analyze cost data and prepare project accounting reports.
  • Reconcile major postings to source documents and audit and process accounting documents.
  • Prepare revenue projections, budget estimates, and supporting schedules.
  • Monitor and report on budget and revenue account status.
  • Review and process requests for budget adjustments.
  • Develop databases and analyze financial information.
  • Answer questions and compile special reports for program and departmental budget tracking and reporting.
  • Participate in preparing monthly and special periodic financial reports and statements for program and agency management.
  • Provide technical expertise, assistance, and guidance to program and department management and other personnel on budget, payroll, receivables, expenditures, program compliance, and financial discrepancies.
  • Prepare or ensure preparation of accounting and statistical or narrative reports and statements required by federal, state, and local agencies and management.
  • Ensure funds are budgeted, controlled, accounted for, reconciled, and audited according to acceptable accounting practices and legal requirements.
  • Review financial transactions for conformance with agency, county, state, and federal policies, rules, regulations, and codes.
  • Provide backup support to Accountant I staff, technicians, and other accounting support staff with accounting entries.
  • Work with staff from other departments to resolve technical accounting issues and problems.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
