Global on board for Liverpool bus fleet ad brief. 21 Aug 2026, 07:00 The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has appointed Global, the media and entertainment business behind brands including Heart, Classic FM and Smooth, to manage and maximise advertising across its new publicly-controlled bus fleet. Advertising will be displayed across the UK-built single and double decker vehicles which will make up the city region bus fleet. The combined authority said bus advertising is set to play a vital role in generating revenue as it works to bring services back under public control, with income generated through advertising to be reinvested directly into the public transport network. Beginning in St Helens in September 2026, the bus network will be brought into public control in phases across the Liverpool City Region. The new system will allow services to be planned around the needs of passengers and communities and is part of Mayor Steve Rotheram's pledge to create a faster, greener and better-connected transport network that works for the 1.6 million residents of the City Region. The advertising agreement and policy will apply from September 2026 on the initial franchised bus routes in St Helens, which will be the first services to come under public control. Bus services that have not yet transitioned to franchising will continue to operate under existing arrangements until they join the publicly controlled network as part of the phased rollout across the Liverpool City Region. All advertising will meet the standards set out by the combined authority's advertising policy, set earlier this year, which restricts the promotion of high fat, salt and sugar foods as well vaping and tobacco promotions on public assets, including the bus network. Steve Rotheram, mayor of the Liverpool City Region, said: "Bringing our buses back under public control is about putting passengers first and making sure our network works for the people who rely on it every day. "By making the most of our new fleet, we can bring in extra revenue that can be ploughed straight back into improving the whole system and delivering better services for passengers." Nicole Guerretta, director of partnerships for transport and business development at Global, said: "We are delighted to be appointed as LCRCA's bus advertising partner. We know the Liverpool market well and have been delivering bus advertising across the region for more than 20 years. "We look forward to continuing that success in partnership with LCRCA and maximising the long-term value of the network for customers and advertisers. "In addition, with the recent launch of AdPower, Global's new self-service advertising platform, it's now easier than ever for businesses of all sizes to access Liverpool City Region bus advertising."

Global Radio headquarters, Leicester Square - digital façade installation. 5 Aug, 2026 Phoenix Adbuild were delighted to be invited to tender for the complete replacement of the digital façade at Global Radio's prestigious headquarters in London's Leicester Square. Being selected as the preferred contractor for such a high-profile project was a privilege and a testament to its team's expertise in delivering complex digital display installations. Following its appointment, the project commenced with a comprehensive on-site survey to assess the existing installation and plan every aspect of the replacement. The original LED displays were carefully removed and responsibly recycled, with component materials processed through approved recycling channels. To help the client make the final product selection, Phoenix Adbuild installed a temporary demonstration screen, allowing them to evaluate the available display technology before the new system was procured. Behind the scenes, its engineering team was already progressing the next phase of the project. Structural steelwork was designed, detailed drawings were produced, independently reviewed by structural engineers, and approved by the client before manufacturing began. Careful planning at this stage ensured the installation could proceed efficiently and safely. Working alongside the principal contractor during the building refurbishment presented its own challenges. As the construction programme evolved, its installation schedule was adjusted several times to accommodate the overall project timeline. Thanks to careful coordination and flexibility from its team, Phoenix Adbuild maintained progress and continued to meet every key milestone. The central London location added another level of complexity. Leicester Square is one of the capital's busiest pedestrian areas, meaning vehicle access was heavily restricted. All deliveries had to be carefully planned and completed during early morning access windows, with installation vehicles relocated off-site once unloading was complete. Installation of the structural steel framework required precise coordination with multiple trades working simultaneously on site. Once the framework was in place, the LED screen support frames were installed with exceptional accuracy. With a pixel pitch of just 4.8mm, even the slightest misalignment between frames could become visible on the finished display. Achieving perfect tolerances at this stage was essential, demonstrating the importance of meticulous preparation and attention to detail. While the external installation progressed, its electrical engineers worked throughout the building to install the power distribution equipment, communications racks, and the extensive cabling infrastructure required to support the new digital façade. The project also included the installation of two LED tower displays positioned either side of the main entrance. During construction, the client requested that these displays be protected by glass. As the screens required front access for future servicing, its design team developed a bespoke sliding mounting system that allowed the displays to move safely while maintaining uninterrupted power and data connections. After extensive design and testing, the solution proved both practical and highly effective. Photo's below :- Testing the sliding towers With the support structure complete, power and data cabling were installed before the LED modules were fitted. Bespoke powder-coated aluminium surrounds were then installed, providing a premium architectural finish that complemented the building's new façade. The final stage required the greatest level of care. Each LED module was individually installed and the system was progressively commissioned. Every module was handled with extreme precision, with each pixel inspected to ensure flawless performance. Any defective pixels, damaged shaders or minor imperfections were replaced immediately, ensuring the finished installation met the exceptionally high standards expected for the entrance to Global Radio's flagship headquarters. The completed project delivered a striking, high-resolution digital façade that enhances one of London's most recognisable media headquarters. It stands as an excellent example of its ability to manage technically demanding, high-profile installations while maintaining the highest standards of engineering, quality, and workmanship. Global and Manchester Airport unveil new digital billboards to supercharge campaigns for brands. Global, the Media & Entertainment group, and Manchester Airport, have launched a suite of brand-new digital billboards across the airport's newly renovated and expanded Terminal 2. The state-of-the-art screens provide advertisers with new opportunities to reach more than 32 million inbound and outbound passengers. Manchester Airport's £1.3 billion revamp of Terminal 2 now introduces a 4K HD 'Sky Screen' with full motion and dynamic capabilities stretching five metres wide, plus 15 premium small and large format displays throughout the terminal. The addition of new screens takes Global's advertising inventory to a total of 68 digital screens across the airport and 31 classic posters, including Europe's largest advertising site in an airport - The Wonderwall. Often referred to as "The Gateway to the North", Manchester Airport is the UK's third busiest airport, and the largest outside London. A ten-year transformation has enhanced the airport's capacity and services to meet the needs of its evolving traveller base. Terminal 2 now handles over 75% of Manchester Airport's passenger traffic, having grown its operations to accommodate more than 50 airlines and connect travellers with more than 200 long-and-short-haul destinations worldwide. Maintaining its position as the largest airport media owner, Global is Manchester Airport's exclusive ad sales partner, providing brands with opportunities to showcase their products and services as part of a customer's journey - from the check-in hall, all the way through to departures, and meeting them back home again in baggage reclaim. Nicole Guerretta, Director of Partnerships for Transport & Business Development at Global added: "The expansion of Terminal 2, alongside a major investment in new digital screens across the space, creates a powerful opportunity for brands to connect with audiences at the moment their journey really begins. People arrive at the airport in a receptive, ready to spend mindset, open to what's around them. Coupled with a fast paced and engaging retail environment, and a mix of large format, full motion and 4K screens strategically placed throughout the terminal, brands can show up in that moment and be part of a passenger's journey from check in through to departures and back again when they return." Stephen Turner, Chief Commercial Officer at Manchester Airport, said: "Here at Manchester Airport we're proud to connect the North to the world and thanks to our ten-year, £1.3bn investment programme, we're now doing that via our ultra-modern, award winning Terminal 2. That overhaul, alongside the ongoing project to improve and expand Terminal 3, doesn't just benefit our passengers - it also benefits all the stakeholders operating around the airport, including advertisers, who are able to reach their audiences in an eye-catching way via Global's state-of-the-art screens including our enormous Wonderwall." In addition to Manchester Airport, Global's airport advertising portfolio spans London Gatwick, London Luton and London Stansted, East Midlands, Birmingham, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Southampton, London Southend, Prestwick, and Guernsey.
