Requirements
  • A minimum of two years of industry experience is required.
  • A High School diploma is required.
  • Laboratory, inventory, and/or warehouse operations experience is required.
  • Experience with automated systems for inventory control, stock replenishment, and order processing is required.
  • Knowledge of various packing and shipping methods is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, SharePoint, and OneNote is required.
  • Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management Systems and automated laboratory systems is required.
  • Strong data entry skills and high attention to detail are required.
  • Customer service skills are required.
  • Experience in wash-lab operations is required.
  • Ability to learn and comprehend all required training for the position is required.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, bend, reach, stoop, walk, and remain standing for prolonged periods is required.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination is required.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and a Federal security investigation to obtain a U.S. Department of the Interior Public Trust clearance before starting is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to work in support of a Federal agency.
Responsibilities
  • Receive, log, and prepare samples received in the warehouse.
  • Open coolers containing customer samples and accompanying Analytical Service Request forms.
  • Obtain cooler temperatures and record them on the appropriate Analytical Service Request forms.
  • Unpack coolers and reconcile their contents with the corresponding Analytical Service Request orders.
  • Highlight incomplete or incorrect orders on Analytical Service Requests for designated staff to troubleshoot.
  • Pre-log samples by affixing barcodes to bottles and scanning them into the Laboratory Information Management System, and obtain the order’s Analytical Service Request number from the system.
  • Repack coolers for return to customers by removing ice or water, adding shipping labels, and taping coolers.
  • Deliver final Analytical Service Requests to designated staff for subsequent data entry.
  • Transport samples to storage facilities or refrigeration according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Check bottles for acidification according to Standard Operating Procedures and record the results in the Laboratory Information Management System.
  • Use pH strips to check acidified bottles against pH requirements.
  • Remove bottles from storage facilities and move them to disposal according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Remove expired bottles and move them to the designated disposal area according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Wash and burn new bottles and glassware according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Follow seasonal sample instructions, including High Season and Low Season procedures.
  • Follow the quality assurance plan and maintain at least 98% completion and accuracy for each task.
  • Review work daily or weekly for completeness as part of the inspection process.
  • Assist with monthly progress reports covering metrics, accomplishments, progress, and issues as needed.
  • Follow facility safety and security protocols according to facility Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Follow facility Conservation of Utilities and Sustainability Practices for energy and water efficiency.
  • Follow the facility Buddy System to support personnel safety in shared work areas.

  • An Associate’s degree or similar advanced degree is preferred.
