Responsibilities
  • Manages and coordinates system security to ensure that unauthorized personnel cannot access vital information.
  • Assigns and updates user and system passwords and access levels.
  • Performs regular inspections to ensure that all equipment is well maintained and operating safely.
  • Ensures that studies are flowing from modalities to the archive and reading stations through the various interfaces and processing queues.
  • Repairs broken and corrupted studies and splits and merges studies.
  • Updates the system configuration as new modalities, workstations, and RIS codes are added over time.
  • Investigates, identifies, and prepares proposals to resolve operational problems within clinical imaging areas.
  • Ensures validation of details and oversees network and operational management of the picture archiving and communication system (PACS).
  • Assists with implementation of upgrades to maintain the system at optimal performance.
  • Provides input to appropriate business unit managers to assist in identifying present and future needs for PACS equipment.
  • Assists end users with PACS-related issues.
  • Provides support and application maintenance and performs PACS-related training.
  • Maintains secure records of all PACS equipment.
  • Oversees RIS/PACS integration, dictionary database structure set up and maintenance, application and hardware redundancy procedures, downtime protocols, and archival strategies for RIS/PACS clinical data.
  • Oversees activities of vendors in all phases of installation and implementation and provides training for new systems, applications, and upgrades.

  • Experience with PACS / DICOM systems required.
  • Provide on-premises hardware, network, OS and software support for PACS computers, working collaboratively with various IT teams as needed. Maintain device inventory documentation.
  • Mentors Junior PACS Admins; provides education, guidance and support to colleagues.
  • Remediate HL7 interface errors.
  • Performs daily system checks and remediates issues, including servers, workstations, integrations, various queues, reports, etc.
  • Provide technical training to physicians and techs on various software systems.
  • Provision User Access, including Active Directory and/or local account setup.
  • Create/modify orders, work lists, modalities, etc as requested.
  • Manage Patient Merge queue; perform chart linking or mergers where appropriate.
  • Keep incident ticket queues clear, resolve issues within Service Level Agreement timelines.
  • Proactive approach to problem identification and resolution. Ownership of issues, from start to finish for resolution.
  • Proactively performs analysis on current operational workflows, systems, and technology. Recommends and implements changes or enhancements that will improve operations and further promote the organization's strategic vision and goals.
  • Contribute to, and maintain, department Knowledge Base.
  • Monitor application audit reports, and system monitoring software alerts; remediates issues.
  • Lead small projects; collaborate on large projects. Ensure adequate communication is maintained regarding project statuses, project and task priorities, timelines, etc.
  • Defines clinical system requirements jointly working with management and professional staff in operational departments. Technical solutions must satisfy future-oriented business needs.
  • Produce workflow and architecture diagrams for supported system.
  • Organize and lead meetings as needed. This includes material creation and presentation. Also, documenting, managing, and resolving action items, issues and decisions.
  • Keeps abreast of industry information and trends related to information technology systems. Participates in independent, continuing, professional education courses and programs. Keeps certifications updated.
  • Participates in 24/7/365 On-Call Support Rotation
  • Performs site visits (including Reading Room walk throughs, go-lives, meetings and hardware installations).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Philips Intellispace, Performance Bridge, Nuance Powerscribe One, mPower, AIDOC, Teamplay, DynaCAD, SyngoVia, Terarecon, PACSGear preferred
  • CIIP or PARCA certification preferred
