Requirements
  • Master’s Degree in mechanical engineering or similar
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in electric motor propulsion design
  • Strong proficiency in CAD (NX preferred)
  • Experience using FEA (ANSYS, or FEMAP preferred)
  • Hands on experience in assembling motor and geartrain components
  • Ability to travel domestically
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
Responsibilities
  • Be proficient in powertrain design, including gears, bearings, structures, and lubrication systems
  • Operate as a technical team leader, providing design mentorship as well as individual contributor input
  • Perform motor and gearbox architectural design trades
  • Identify and drive to completion new areas for improvement across current and future systems
  • Identity, own, and manage design risks to solution
  • Develop detailed CAD design and 2D drawings for electric engine components, including proficient use of GD&T
  • Be familiar with engine the lubrication system including pumps and filter components
  • Participate in design reviews and be able to clearly communicate design concepts
  • Perform FEA on components and subassemblies
  • Help develop test plans for subsystems and full assemblies
  • Work cross functionally with supplier and manufacturing teams to incorporate DFM feedback into design
  • Be hands on in the lab for trial builds and testing
