Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and An Advanced Degree (MBA, MSN, MHA or related field)
  • Current West Virginia Registered Nurse license or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Five (5) years of experience in a healthcare leadership position
Responsibilities
  • Strategic, administrative & fiscal oversight responsibility for departmental operations including establishing departmental objectives, planning, budgetary and fiscal responsibility and ensuring positive and consistent employee relations
  • Collaborates with the Vice President of Operations and Chief Nursing Officer to assume responsibility for the preparation of strategic goals, objectives and operating plans for assigned areas at the beginning of the fiscal year
  • Oversees Quality and Performance Improvement initiatives assuring compliance with WVU Medicine mission, strategic direction and goals
  • Leads project work for all areas responsible to the VP of Operations & Chief Nursing Officer within the division as well as hospital wide initiatives. Provides effective and coordinated leadership of patient care within specified clinical patient service areas
  • Promotes and maintains effective communication with and between medical, managerial and employee staffs
  • Coordinates resources with an understanding of patient care needs, projected patient census and changes in healthcare technology
  • Oversees preparations and monitoring of all statistical, operational, and capital budgets for the assigned departments in conjunction with Vice President of Operations & Chief Nursing Officer. Assures compliance with targeted fiscal objectives
  • Recruits and develops Directors, Managers and staff to assure effective leadership. Develops an environment which fosters creativity and organizational development
  • Maintains flexibility in the business unit which allows for easy transition of resources to respond to changes in practice or demand in the health care market
  • Supports or participates in various hospital committee and performance improvement activities as appointed
  • Directs oversight functions responsible for compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and third-party payer regulations and standards
  • Develops response specific strategies and workplans that can adapt and adjust to evolving emergency contexts, monitors progress, engages in after action discussions and integrates lessons learned to continuously strengthen emergency response
  • Builds strategies, tools, and plans to respond rapidly and effectively to health needs in sudden onset emergencies
