General Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis, the Financial Analyst will support our FP&A team and senior leaders across the business. This position will help the FP&A team and organization operate more effectively by leveraging systems to provide data and information that allows leaders to keep a pulse on their business. This is a highly visible role that requires development of partnership relationships with business leaders, requires an individual who takes initiative and works well both independently and with a team. As well, the successful candidate will need to be adaptable, be eager to learn and grow, and be a strong communicator.
How Will I Make an Impact?
Financial Analysis
- Support of administration of company reporting system (Adaptive Insights). This includes continually leveraging the system to improve efficiencies
- Actively seek opportunities to improve and streamline processes
- Support monthly analysis and reporting of consolidated results against budget and forecast
- Support regular monthly financial reporting process including month end accounting functions (accruals & variance analysis), re-forecasting functions (prepaid commitments, headcount reporting) and providing financial reporting to the FP&A team
- Support in preparing monthly SLT reporting and updating related dashboard metrics
- Support in preparing of presentations for Board of Directors
- Support in maintaining budget trackers, purchase orders, prepaid commitments and year-to-date spending against budget and forecast
- Close synergy with procurement and accounts payable team to ensure procure to pay processes and systems optimized to FP&A needs
- Assist with various special projects for stakeholders as required
Business Partnership
- Assist business units with management and optimization of budget
- Assist business units ensuring budget informed decisions are made including ROI analysis
- Responsible for preparation of reporting packages to key stakeholders. This will include a thorough financial analysis with recommendations for any material variances
- Assist in determining if items are in budget to facilitate purchase requests and other ad hoc questions about budget.
- Support role on strategic initiatives championed by Senior Finance Business partners
- Communicate financial information in a way that is easily understood by non-financial people in one-on-one situations, small groups, via email and phone
- Actively engages with colleagues to further understanding of financial reports and systems
- Participate as a subject matter expert in special projects and take ownership of ad hoc analysis as required
- Actively seek opportunities to improve and streamline processes
- Cooperates and collaborates with colleagues as appropriate; works in partnership with others; delivers on commitments to the team/organization
What you’ll bring to the role:
- 2+ years’ experience in a Financial Analysis capacity
- Proven experience in communication of results and collaboration with a variety of stakeholders
- Project and teamwork – ideally in an international, hybrid and dynamic environment
- Self-starter
- Ability to perform requested tasks autonomously
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and organizational skills
- Interest in process improvement and ability to demonstrate innovative thinking
- Ability to quickly learn and embrace new technologies/process improvements
- Attention to detail and commitment to see projects through to the end
- Advanced Microsoft Excel computing skills, including advanced knowledge of Pivot Tables and Lookup functions
- Experience with Netsuite, Salesforce, Adaptive Insights and PowerBI are considered an asset
- Experience with IFRS is considered an asset
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor of Commerce / Bachelor of Business Administration degree, preferably with emphasis in Accounting/Finance.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or working towards a CPA designation is an asset
