Yard Operative Role Overview
Within this role you have a responsibility in ensuring that the yard is kept clean and tidy and well managed at all times. You will be expected to ensure that all food waste is split into the various avenues of removal, which will include food waste, charity collections and our onsite market. You will need to work effectively to manage all pallets so that they are stacked correctly and safely, placed neatly into their respective categories and loaded into the pallet trailer ready for collection.
You will need to make sure you are adhering to Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure your own safety and the others around you. Additionally, you need to understand and comply with Company policies and procedures which are relevant to both the site and your working environment.
Yard Operative Key Duties
- To ensure that the yard area is kept clear and well managed at all times
- To ensure all food waste is separated into their specific streams
- Ensure that pallets are separated into their respective categories
- Ensure that our waste streams are disposed of as per instruction and training.
- To load and unload trailers as per the requirements of the business
- Support other functions in maintaining waste standards
- Report progress and issues to the Facilities Coordinator
- Use of counterbalance for general yard duties
