Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science.
  • At least 14 years of relevant experience for the Senior Professional level, or at least 5 years of relevant experience for the Advanced Professional level.
  • Knowledge of RF/microwave instrumentation, including network analysis, spectrum analysis, antenna measurements, and RF materials characterization.
  • Experience troubleshooting RF systems in the laboratory and in the field.
  • Knowledge of radar systems and hardware.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB and/or Python for instrument control and data analysis.
  • Ability to write technical reports.
  • Knowledge of RF/microwave engineering for ground, air, and sea-based operations.
  • Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as CST Microwave Studio or REMCOM XFdtd.
  • Established understanding and expertise in RF/microwave measurement instrumentation.
  • Eligibility to obtain a government security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Willingness to participate in the ARL drug testing program and comply with applicable electronic and physical monitoring requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee sensitive research and development focused on applied electromagnetics as a Principal Investigator.
  • Develop concepts and oversee sensitive research and development focused on applied electromagnetics.
  • Provide technical knowledge in RF/microwave engineering for ground, air, and sea-based operations.
  • Apply knowledge of antenna concepts, parameters, and applications.
  • Contribute to solutions for the automation and control of RF instrumentation.
  • Conduct RF/microwave laboratory-based and in-the-field measurements and experimentation.
  • Facilitate measurements at outdoor test ranges, anechoic chambers, and EMC chambers.
  • Assess and validate state-of-the-art RF systems and solutions from the Defense Industrial Base.
  • Assist with field-measurement setups and test plans.
  • Travel occasionally according to sponsor and program requirements.
  • Develop program management plans from the technical perspective and technical documents satisfying stakeholder requirements for higher-level positions.
  • Lead engineers in day-to-day tasking to accomplish programmatic deliverables and develop and present project or program status reports for higher-level positions.
  • Provide technical leadership within the laboratory in RF/microwave research.
  • Facilitate relationships across the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community to move technologies from fundamental research to applied solutions.
  • Serve as a Trusted Agent to the government to assess and validate state-of-the-art RF systems and solutions from the Defense Industrial Base for higher-level positions.
