The opportunity at Apixio:

We are changing the way healthcare uses data. Currently, about 80% of healthcare data is underused because it is too messy and unstructured for humans to efficiently analyze. The healthcare industry needs intelligent technology that can extract insights quickly and accurately. And that is where we came in. Apixio augments the ability to read, decipher, and understand patient information. This ultimately translates into better care delivery, lower costs and streamlined processes.

We are looking for an experienced product manager to lead the evolution of our Data Platform. This is a critical role for Apixio, and it will be an exciting and challenging role for the right candidate. Product managers are the owners of our product vision and are tasked with leveraging our capabilities to solve some of healthcare’s most important and difficult challenges.

We will be asking you to:

Lead and support Apixio’s Data Platform vision.
Continually build upon and define the Data Platform product strategy, vision, and roadmap.
Define requirements for Data Platform, including but not limited to:

Healthcare Data files, both industry standard and customer specific, for multiple product use cases.
Data model to support multiple product use cases, and for our platform’s longitudinal patient record, including reporting capabilities to support workflow and analytical solutions.
Central Data Warehouse

Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and prioritize feature candidates, to continually improve platform capabilities.
Create and maintain the Data Platform roadmap, revise, and republish on a quarterly basis.
Create feature Epics, Initiatives, and Stories (in Jira) with enough detail to enable efficient development delivering expected results.
Work with other Product Managers to identify, define, and prioritize Data needs.
Work with Apixio’s engineering team to plan, monitor, and report the development schedule.
Validate that solutions deliver intended value and iterate based on stakeholder feedback.
Coordinate with the Apixio Operations team to ensure they are adequately prepared in advance of new releases.
Contribute to the continual improvement of the methodology and implementation of product management at Apixio.

To be effective at this role you will need to be:

Well-versed in healthcare data standards and ontologies. For example, familiarity, or demonstrable work experience to quickly get up to speed on such standards as 837, HL7, FHIR, SNOMED, LOINC, NDC, CCDA, CMS and HHS standard data formats.
Experience working with Data Platforms.
Experience working with Medical, Pharmacy, and Lab claims data.
Understand data modeling and storage best practices.
Experienced in both the art and science of product management.
Able to show a track record of conceiving and delivering enterprise solutions that customers love.
A great communicator, collaborator, and team player.
Curious about customer challenges and how they can be solved.
Focused on the Data Platform’s performance, and extensibility.
An analytical thinker who is not afraid to go deep into the details of the engineering implementation.
Technically savvy enough to hold your own on a whiteboard with our engineers.
Not afraid of getting into a (little) bit of math with some of our data scientists.
Passionate about making the Healthcare industry better.
Realistic about what is possible & committed enough to deliver on your promises.

It would be great if you have some exposure to the following:

Products and data platforms that rely on machine learning.
Databricks products and capabilities.
Risk adjustment, Analytics and Payment Integrity

We are assuming that you have:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical subject such as Computer Science or Engineering
At least 3+ years of prior experience in a platform/ infrastructure product management role for a software company
Ability to travel (within the USA) as required but not more than 25% of the time.
Proficiency with office productivity tools, such as Jira, Miro, G Suite, and MS Office

After 90 days, you will:

Have developed an understanding of the legacy Apixio data platform
Have actively participated in the sprint planning for the data platform team and the roadmap planning for 2H of 2024
Have developed an understanding of the thesis for moving to Databricks and the work it takes to get there
Liaised with the other PMs to draft requirements for the data platform for each of the products

After one year, you will:

Have transitioned the data platform to databricks
Played a strategic role in defining the road map for the data platform moving forward.
Lead data governance and other data related discussions at Apixio

The salary range below is for Base Salary. Total compensation also includes benefits and variable compensation. Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, skill set, years of experience, and the employee’s geographic location.

Base Compensation

$130,000—$180,000 USD
