Valley Businesses Unite to Bring "Capes for Care" to Kids at Valley Children's Hospital

Valley businesses unite to bring "Capes for Care" to kids at Valley Children's Hospital. FRESNO, Calif. - November 12, 2025 - This October, the Central Valley came together in true superhero spirit as Tangram Interiors partnered with Kimball International to host the region's first Capes for Care event: an initiative that brought handmade superhero capes to children at Valley Children's Hospital. What began as a small creative idea turned into a powerful display of compassion and community. Tangram initially planned to distribute 30 cape kits, but interest quickly skyrocketed. By the end, more than 80 local businesses, schools, and community partners participated, designing and donating over 70 custom superhero capes for young patients to wear during the Halloween season. Participants included Quiring, G.L. Bruno Associates, Darden Architects, Ordiz Melby, West Hills College, Fresno State, Teter Architects, Ethosphere, Leadby, Aeronot Design, Graham Prewitt, PBK, the Fresno Business Journal, and many others who volunteered their time, creativity, and resources to make the event possible. Hosted at Tangram's Fresno showroom, the Capes for Care design day (Oct. 2) brought teams together to decorate blank cape kits with bright colors, encouraging messages, and imaginative designs, from mummies and monsters to classic comic-book heroes. Later that month, Tangram's team, joined by friends and family, personally delivered the capes to Valley Children's Hospital (Oct. 29), where kids received them with smiles and excitement. "It was a really special feeling getting to pass out the capes to the patients as they arrived and having our kids be a part of it," said Alyssa Armesto, Vice President of Tangram Central Valley. "I was truly blown away by the level of participation and the thoughtfulness that went into each and every cape. Our community is proud, strong, and deeply supportive, and this event was a beautiful reflection of that spirit." For Tangram and Kimball International, Capes for Care is a beautiful reminder that creativity can heal and kindness can connect Imanetwork all. As the holiday season approaches, Tangram hopes the initiative inspires more local businesses to use their collective creativity for good. "We can't wait to do this again next year," Armesto added. "Seeing the joy these capes brought to kids, especially during a hospital stay, reminds us that small acts of care make a big difference." Tangram is a flagship dealer for Steelcase, Inc., and the leading commercial interior solutions provider in Dallas-Fort Worth, Lubbock, and Southern California with offices in Los Angeles, Orange, Kern, and Fresno counties. The company has nurtured a collaborative and people-focused culture in the belief that people fuel innovation. That culture has led to the organic growth of multiple business units complementing the firm's core contract furniture offering: custom furniture, ancillary furniture, flooring and light construction, audio-visual integration, architectural walls, on-site furniture reconditioning, asset management and storage, delivery and installation, and corporate moves.
