Job Description Summary
The Director of MUHA Anesthesia Providers and Technicians provides overall management, planning, direction, supervision, and coordination for MUHA anesthesia providers. This position reports to the anesthesia ICCE System Administrative Officer and Chief of the Anesthesia ICCE. The Director ensures the provision of the departments. in collaboration with other health professionals in an environment that is respectful of others, accountable for outcomes and adaptive to change. The Director oversees and provides leadership for all clinical and support personnel. This role interacts proactively with other directors, leaders, physicians, nurses, and other members of the health care delivery team to achieve desired outcomes. The Director works with clinical managers to align practice across the continuum of care for their areas. The Director is responsible for the planning and comprehensive operations of the non-physician anesthesia providers, anesthesia technicians, and supportive staffing for the practices on a 24–hour basis.

Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversight of staffing schedule development and deployment for all practice areas
- Safety of patients and staff by reviewing and responding to SHIELD events
- Knowledge of and implementation of Joint Commission standards for anesthesia
- Collaboratively ensure the presence of functional equipment
- Billing and compliance
- Recruitment and Retention
- Provides timely meetings with the division, section, or group to convey/seek information, awareness, and wellness.
- Oversight of onboarding process for new practitioners
- Work with Executive Leadership, departmental leadership, anesthesia clinical managers to develop and maintain standardized credentialing process for anesthesia providers as well as develop and evaluation and peer review process
- Oversight for continuing education and professional development for all clinical care CTMs in collaboration with clinical educators
- Work directly with medical staff office (MSO)to ensure compliance and accreditation standards are met in all areas of responsibility.
- Work with executive leadership, departmental leadership, Managers and Technician Supervisors to ensure appropriate salaries, revenue, expenses and FTEs related to Anesthesia personnel to meet favorable budgetary guidelines and outcomes
- Lead and work in inter-professional clinical and organizational teams
- Attend designated meetings of department and hospital
- Meet with assigned clinical education programs
- Promote the scholarly activities of CRNA/CAAs at MUSC Health
- Working with the Equipment Committee Chair select, integrate, educate clinical staff to new equipment
- Ongoing communication within the administrative flow chart
- Budget review and interventions
- Strategic planning of division, practice, or group
- Personnel review and professional planning for direct reports
- Reviews and approves all divisional policies
- Supports the goals of Just Culture
- Oversight of the Anesthesia Tech tier program evaluation and promotion process in collaboration with the Anesthesia Tech Supervisor and Anesthesia Educator
The Director collaborates with managers, leads, anesthesia technician supervisors, administrative support, medical directors, Associate Chief Operating Officer of Perioperative Services, and Anesthesia ICCE Leadership to ensure appropriate quantity and quality of staff and staffing models. The Director maintains interprofessional communication and relationships through attendance and interaction with multidisciplinary committees.
Must demonstrate current competency in the clinical privileges extended. Proficient in the operation of anesthesia equipment. Current knowledge in anesthesia practice and environment. Must exhibit basic knowledge of safety in a health care facility. Knowledge and practice of universal precautions in patient contact is required. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with surgeons, residents, anesthesia faculty, administrative staff, and nursing staff.

Requirements (Education and Work Experience): Graduate of a program approved by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs. Earned a master’s degree or doctorate (preferred) in nurse anesthesia practice. Three or more years of supervisory or management experience in a complex health care organization.
