We are looking for a skilled Engineering Technician to support our growing Applications team in Austin, TX. In this role, you will perform surface-mount soldering related to the assembly and repair of electronic board platforms. If you possess strong troubleshooting skills, knowledge of lab bench equipment, and electrical test techniques with a background in automated test scripting, we’re looking for you! Knowledge of Python and Matlab scripting is a plus!

Responsibilities

• Ability to solder various types of components (CSP, BGA, QFN, 0402, 0201, 01005)
• Use electronic schematics and layout for debug and rework
• Identify various components and packages
• Rework and fix circuit boards with written instructions
• Design and build custom cable assemblies
• Implement and document lab procedures
• Debug test setup (HW/SW) issues with the mentorship from engineers
• Run simple test sequences to verify board functionality
• Implement the proper execution of test experiments, debug and fix problems to ensure test sequences complete with minimal issues.
• Inventory management

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or a closely related field and 3 or more years of confirmed experience (Experience in lieu of education will be considered)
• Experience working with lab equipment: Audio Precision, oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, etc
• Assemble and debug printed circuit boards populated with surface mount components.
• Perform skilled re-work and mechanical modifications at the board or system level.
• Ability to read/interpret circuit board schematics
• Understand IC packages and their handling
• Strong organization and documentation skills

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Basic software knowledge in text-based programming such as C or scripting languages such as Python, PERL or tcl
• Experience with schematics capture tools such as PADS

This position is located in Austin, TX

This is a fully on-site role and is not available for remote or hybrid remote work schedule.
